Ball Control (5 mins)

Organization:

-15-16 players

-full gymnasium

Players working individually on keeping the ball up in the air.

Variations/Progressions:

-start with ball from hands

-allow bounces and catches in between

Key Points:

-Good agility, balance, coordination - on balls of feet

-Good touch/feel of the ball

ABCs (15 mins)

Organization:

-10-12 players

-Area: approx.15x15

Players will initially work through different movement skills and changes of directions.

Variations/Progressions:

Different movements - running, skipping, shuffling, back pedalling, weave through the cones, zig-zag pylon to pylon

Coaching Points:

Quality speed, agility, balance and coordination

Organization:

-10-12 players

Players will initially work through different ball mastery techniques, moves, then finishing

Variations/Progressions:

Different ball mastery - inside/outside cuts, sole rolls, ball boxing, toe taps, V pull push

Different moves - inside/outside cuts, u-turns, fake and take, circle and take, step on, pull push

Coaching Points:

Lots of touches, ball control, execution of moves, use both feet, accurate finish

1v1 Game (15 mins)

Organization:

-15-16 players

-Area: Half Gym

-See diagram for equipment and set up

Players split into 2 teams. Play starts with player A dribbling into centre and stopingping ball with foot and continuing around the large pylon. Players B must react to when the ball is stopped and run out to the ball and 1v1 situation is created. A goal is scored when a player dribbles the ball from outside to inside the Scoring Zone.

Variations/Progressions:

-Play 2v2

Key Points:

1v1

-Quick reactions

-Turn to face the defender quickly if possible

-Dribble at defender with speed

-Quick changes of direction/speed

-Acceleration away from defender

-Ball control/accuracy through gate
