Practice 1 (15 mins)

Organization: Groups of 3. Grid size 20x40. 1 ball per group.

Instructions: Players to dribble at cone and use swivel hips technique to go past, then pass the ball on to the next player.

Coaching Points: Dribble towards left side of cone for right foot, body must turn so that hips point 90 degrees, body movement to fake pass, accelerate away.

Progressions: Use both feet, time limit.

Practice 2 (10 mins)

Organization: Groups of 3 join up with another group of 3. Players split in half, 2 attackers v 1 defender. 2 gates to dribble through either side for attacker, if they manage to they get 1 point. If defender wins the ball they must stop the ball on the opposite line for 1 point. 20x20 grid.

Instructions:

- Teams take it in turns to try and score (dribbling through end zone) as soon as ball goes out or player scores, next pair goes. Must have ball close when they pass the line to count.

- 10 second countdown per match.

Coaching Points:

- Get in line to receive the ball and Head up to locate goal

- Recognition of defender (speed of approach)

- Choice of which goal to attack based on defender's pressure

- Quick decision to perform move

- Head up to find goal, seal off defender after move and accelerate to goal

Progressions/Regression:

P - Change players / smaller space.

R - Add goals / bigger space / change players.

Practice 3 (15 mins)

Organization: 2v1 to big goals. Pairs competiton.

Instructions: Pairs, 2 defenders, 2 goalkeepers. Line A to go first and then after they have either scored or missed then B goes. Time limit per pair. If you score, stay in, if you miss then go behind goals to get the extra balls.

Coaching Points: As before - take time, keep composure and use the pass or swivel hips to beat the defender and score.

Progressions: No goalkeepers + 1 defender, goalkeeper + 1 defender

Practice 4 (10 mins)

Organization:

- 3v3 tournament - World Cup. Every team plays everyone else. 3-4 minute games.

Instructions:

- 3 goals for every time the ball is put in the net, 1 point for stopping the ball on the end line.

Coaching Points:

- Recognition of time to beat the defender.

- Dont be afraid of trying to beat them, go for it!

Progressions:

- Space bigger / change players on teams.
