Screen 1 (15 mins)

Session Objective:

To develop ball skills to keep possession as a team in tight areas

Organisation:

2 players in the middle to chase and try to get a touch on the ball. Change with outer player if you intercept pass.

Screen 2 (20 mins)

Session Objective:

Possesion: Touches

Organisation:

Centre Circle of the pitch

Players all in the centre circle with a ball each dribbling

Touches of the ball. inside and outside of the foot.

Progress to turns (inside and outside hook).

Key Factors:

Small touches in tight areas

Balance when dribbling and in possession

Head up when in possession of the ball

Screen 3 (15 mins)

Session Objective:

Long Play: Passing and Receiving

Organisation:

10x20 Grid.

A starts with the ball. plays to B who sets it back for A for a long pass in to C.B and A switch positions. C plays in to A who sets for C who plays a long pass in to B. A and C switch positions.

Progression: different parts of the foot to use in passing technique

Key Factors:

Weight & Strength of the pass

Accuracy

Blue movement away from the corner to create space

Using the inside of the foot to receive

Receiving the ball on the back foot to force the ball into the space.

Screen 4 (15 mins)

Session Objective:

 2v1 Long passing

Organisation:

15x20 grid

2v1

Ball has to be played in to playing area to start the practice. B sets it back to passer and switches the ball with a long pass. B switches position and becomes the outside player while A becomes the middle player. C receives the ball and the plays in to A who sets it back to C for a long pass in to A.

Same practice but now with added defender. Red tries to close down or intercept the long pass.

Progression: the set back has to be one touch, long pass is maximum two touches.

Weight & Strength of the pass

Accuracy

Choice of pass

Blue middle and outside player movement

Using the inside of the foot to receive

Receiving the ball on the back foot to force the ball into the space.

Session Objective:

PossessionSSG 6v6

Organisation:

6v6 Game

Standard rules for football game

Progression: if pass is made in to front player from defence third to end third extra goal

Progression 2: one touch finish

Key Factors:

Movement and angle for support to recieve the pass.

Speed of play

weight and strength of pass
