Touch and pass warm up (10 mins)

Organization:

Players in groups of two or three depending on numbers ,1 ball each group 30x20 yard (open) grid.

Instructions:

players in groups of two or three and work on throwing the ball to their partner . the partner must now bring the ball down using the corect technique then play a pass back to the throwers feet ,switch roles after a few repetitions.

Coaching Points:

Correct throwing technique

Receiving in the air

Cushion the ball

Feet

Thigh

Chest

Progression:

Cushion then take take a touch to angle the ball into a space then pass .

technical/semi pressure (10 mins)

Organization:

10x20 grid

6x small cones per grid diagram eg (1 grid)

2x tall cones

groups of 4-6 depending on age eg 8-9 years = 4players per group

1ball per group but have spares at the side

Instructions:

1. the players must now dribvle to the tall cone take a touch out of there feet, then strike the ball to the oposite line still following up with a run as shown.

Coaching Points:

o messi dribble to tall cone

otake a touch past the cone into the space and out of your feet

o Angle of approach – off center

oHead up to observe the target

oHead down at the point of contact

oNon-kicking foot placed to side, slightly behind the ball

oAnkle locked, toe down

oContact ball – will vary depending on target area

oContact foot – laces (instep)

oBody weight forward, chest and knee over the ball at contact

oFollow through landing on striking foot

orepeat with both feet

Progressions:

PG.now take out the tall cones and apply semi pressure (defenders dont takle) ,as the player strikes the ball he now will follow up with a run as before but towards the new striking player allowing them to take a touch out of there feet and be more game realistic with the setting to strike movements

Semi Opposed (5 mins)

Organization:

2 boxes. One made up on outside, one smaller in inside (As shown)

12 players with a ball, 12 without.

Instructions:

Looking to drive into box, perform a move in the box (moves we have covered so far-Feint, Roll, Scissors), then drive back out of box and pass the ball to a player who is free on the outside. Continious. This puts them under more pressure than last drill as they will have to be aware of factors such as space, other players and cones.

Coaching Points:

Identification of 1vs1 (space behind defender)

1) Positive 1st touch (drive at defender, makes it easier to unbalance defender)

2) Awareness of next action (where is the goal, space, teammates, covering defenders)

3) Timing of execution of move based upon space between you and the defender

4) Protect the ball (put body between defender and ball)

5) Quality of end product

6) Push the ball to one side of the opponent with outside of the foot

Progressions:

Add in a give and go at the end, or make box smaller.

Scrimmage (30 mins)

Organization:

1. 40x30 grid set up as shown

2. Team seperated into four groups

3. One ball per field with multiple by each goal.

Instructions:

1. Teams will play 5 min games.

2. Water Break

3. Winning teams will play each other.
