Technical Dribbling Warm Up (15 mins)

Set Up

Make a 20x20 area and have a ball for each player. Have the players spread out around the area.

Instructions

Start by dribbling freely around the area using different parts of the foot. Change direction and speed throughout.

Add in skill moves - single scissor, step over and ronaldo chop.

Add in turns - pull back, V turn, inside hook and outside hook.

Progression 1- laces only.

Progression 2- Outside/inside

Progression 3- Laces/outside/inside

Coaching Points

Dribble using small touches to keep the ball close.

Use the part of the foot that you are being asked to use.

Get your head up to look for space and other players.

Creating scoring Chances (20 mins)

Set Up

Using a 30x25 area, set up a goal at one end and divide the players into 2 teams. Make sure to have plenty of balls.

Instructions

1 player from the white team attacks the goal 1 against 0 and has a free shot at the keeper. After they shoot they turn and defend against 2 players from the purple team. After they go, start again 1v0.

Makee sure to switch which team attacks 1v0 and 2v1

Progression 1- If its going well start 1v0 then 2v1 then play 3v2.

Coaching Points

Try to shoot as early as possible.

Shoot with the laces for power.

When playing 2v1, player without the ball should move to space away from the player with the ball so that they can have a quick shot after getting the ball.

When playing 2v1 the player with the ball should draw the defender towards them to create space for their team mate.

3v1 attacking overloads (20 mins)

Set Up

Make a 30x25 area. Divide the players into 3 teams (4 teams if you have more players). Use 2 goals with a keeper in each one. make sure to have plenty of balls.

Instructions

White attack 3v1 against purple with the aim of scoring by using the overload advantage. If purple win the ball they can counter to the other goal. After white score or the ball goes out of play they are off at the end they where attacking. The 2 extra purples enter the area with a ball and attack against 1 black. After they have been the 2 extra blacks enter with a ball and attack against 1 white.

Progression 1- Play 3v2.

Progression 2- Play 3v3

Coaching Points

Players without the ball move to space to create passing lanes.

Take shots if you have a chance to score, or at least get it on target.

Move the ball quickly away from the defending player.

7v4 attacking scenarios (30 mins)

Set Up

Instructions

Play 7v4 in the attackers favour. Using different scenarios. Start by playing as if its the last 5 minutes of a game and you are 1-0 down. If the defending team score its game over.

Progression 1- Play as if its the last 10 miuntes of a cup final where you are 1-0 down and need to win.

Progression 2- Play as if its a draw and if you score you win the game.
