Skill Intro (25 mins)

Setup 3 grids (depending on numbers) as shown, 10m long and 10m wide (adjust size to achieve positive outcome).

The drill starts with A playing to B who passes to C. C then sets the ball for B to play back to A. The sequence continues but this time A plays to D.

Variation:

This time the two middle players must combine. A plays to B, B plays C who sets the ball for D. D then drops the ball off to B to play in A and the sequence continues.

Looking For:

Correct weight of pass - play it how youd like to receive it

Accuracy and timing of pass

High tempo once in the rhythm

Can we play one touch

Skill Training (30 mins)

Setup a 20 x 20 m area. Begin with 7 v 4 free play. Rotate players regularly to give everyone a go in the middle.

Variations:

1. Left foot only / right foot only

2. Limit number of touches

3. 5 passes equals a goal

4. Player in the middle must touch the ball as often as possible

5. Allow defenders to keep the ball when they win and play 4 v 1

* Can you maintain high tempo passing

* Can you open up your body to receive the ball

* Can you get your head up and know what you're going to do before you receive the ball

* Can you play the pass how you'd like to receive it

Skill Game (30 mins)

Play 4 v 4 plus Joker and 1 bouncer on each end. The area is 20m x 30m with a 5m scoring zone at as per diagram.

Start off with free play. After a few minutues bring in the varaiations. Rotate end bouncer regularly.

Variations:

Must play your end bouncer before shooting

First time finish in scoring zone after combining with your bouncer

Must take two touches

Last15 minutes remove the scoring zone and have the end bouncers join in, and applaud where the players implement great short passing sequences
