Practice Organisation
-Area 25x15Yds, with appropriate size goal at each end, as illustrated.
-14 Players (incl. 2GKs) with outfield player, arrange in 2 teams of 6.
-Supply o balls with coach on half way.
-1 team attackers, 1 team defends
-Practice starts with: Coach rolls ball to A team, player decides how many players will attack, and what the size of the overload will be. Ds send out a number of players, depending on number of attackers.
-If A’s score: same players continue and attack opposite goal with new ball rolled-in by coach.
-If D’s gain possession: players attempt to counter-attack to conclude practice.

-Area can be modified, depending on age and ability of players.
-Decision to shoot first time.
-Feints and dribbling skill to eliminate D

-Simple progressions for this practice are:
-- If GK saves: D’s look to receive ball rolled to them in continuous play and aim to counter attack
-- Encourage A’s to bear an opponent to create overload before looking to pass to team mate

-If 1v1: looking for a skill move to bear D before quickly moving into scoring range
-In 2v1, 3v2 situation: how to make it difficult for D’s to defend effectively if outnumbered.

U9’s – The players should be able to complete the Learning outcomes under passive pressure.
