2v2 Warm Up (10 mins)

Organization:

1. 20 x 20 yard area set up as show n

2. 4 players (2 A ttackers, 2 D efenders) set up as show n

3. 1 ball (A dditional around the outside)

Instructions:

1. A ttackers attem pt to penetrate over defenders end line w ith a dribble or com bination

2. If defending team w ins the ball they attem pt to do the sam e over the opposite end line

Coaching Points:

1. U se of com bination to penetrate

2. Runs aw ay from the ball to create 1v1 situation

3. Play at speed

Progressions:

1. P – Lim it touches to encourage use of com binations and speed of play

2v2 +2 outside 615 (40 mins)

Organization:

1.15 x 15 yard area set up as shown

2.6 Players (2 Attackers, 2 Defenders, 2 Neutrals)

1 ball (Additional around the outside)

Instructions:

1.Players set up 2v2 in the area with 2 neutrals on the outside

2.Attacking team must keep possession in the area

3.Attacking team scores a point for linking up with a neutral player to create a numbers up scenario

4.Attacking team gets an additional 5 points if they keep possession for every 10 passes completed

5.If the defending team wins the ball they become the attacking team

6.Should the ball go out of play, a neutral will restart play by passing to the attacking team. This pass is free but not counted towards points

7.Play continues for 5 minutes before changing the neutral players

1.Player movement off the ball

2.Specific passing techniques

3.Weight and accuracy of pass

4.Disguise your pass

Progressions:

P – two touch/one touch

P – make area smaller (10 x 10 yard area)

R – Passive defending (defender must force the ball out of play only)

R – Make area larger (20 x 20 yard area)

Conditioned Game (25 mins)

Organization:

1.50 x 40 yard area set up as shown

2.14 players (2 teams of 4, 4 Neutrals, 2 Goalkeepers) set up as shown

3.1 ball (Additional around the outside)

Instructions:

1.Playing a 4v4 tournament

2.Have one team as neutral players at the side lines, minimize their touches 3,2,1.

3.Looking to see ways of using different passing techniques depending on situation

Coaching Points:

1.Angle of approach – pending on the passing technique

2.Supporting foot next to the ball, pointed towards target

3.Disguise pass (Push Pass – inside, outside/Low driven, Lofted, Chip, Swerve – inside, outside) refer to manual.

Progressions:

P – Make the field small, allowing less time on the ball to help with decision making ability with the ball
