Skills Corridor (20 mins)

Practice Organisation:

*Set up a channel 10yds wide and 20yds long.

*Each player has a ball.

1. Practice starts with: players dribble the ball through the corridor taking as many touches as possible.

Variations:

*Players must use as many parts of the foot as possible.

*Dribble through with as fewer touches as possible.

*On the way back perform a trick at each mannequin.

*Have players on the side who look to pass the ball across.

*Add a defender in the middle with a ball trying to knock the others out while keeping control of his own ball.

Passing Combination (20 mins)

Set Up

*Area set up as illustrated, 15x15 yds.

*3 players on a corner with one free and another player in the middle.

*Player 1, passes into player 2 who then passes into the path of player 2. At the same time player 3 passes to player 4.

*The cycle then continues with player 4 playing into player 2.

Progressions

1. Add in a defender, starts as passive pressure, the defender and wall passer alternate each go.

Learning Objectives

*Play with 2 touch, can try to progress to 1 touch.

*Timing of movement to receive the ball.

*Quality of pass (weight/accuracy)

Directional Possession (20 mins)

Set Up

*Area set up as illustrated, one middle zone (midfield), and two end zones.

*4v4 in the middle with an additional magic player, each end zone with a target player (CB).

*Ball starts with CB and he looks to play into middle zone, to score a goal must play to opposite target player.

Progression

1. Add in a No.9 into end zones, to score you must now play into No.9 who looks to combine for support player to finish, or so he can turn to score in a 1v1 situation.

Learning Objectives

*Movement in midfield, rotation of 4 players.

*Body shape when receiving, check shoulders.

*Play 1 touch in tight spaces.

*Support of No.9 to lose CB.

Switching Play (20 mins)

Set Up

*Pitch set up as illustrated, with 3 areas, middle and two channels either side.

*3 goals/gates at each end of the area, this should encourage switching possession.

*In each wide channel place a neutral FB.

Challenges

*If you can score via an overlap with neutral FB counts for two goals.

*Play quickly, as playing in a tight area.

*Set you team in a formation as organisation is key (team ownership)

Learning Objectives

1. Move the ball quickly playing from side to side, when the opportunity arrises can you use a FB to create an overload in wide areas.

2. Looking at rotating and filling other players positions if they move out.

Wide Areas (20 mins)

Set Up

*Pitch set up as illustrated, 2 goals either end with equal number teams in middle.

Challenge

*If players can get the ball into both wide channels before scoring they receive 5 goals.

*If they get into 1 channel before scoring they receive 2 goals.

*If it doesn't go into wide channel and they score they receive 1 goal.

Learning Objectives

1. Move the ball quickly playing from side to side, when the opportunity arrises can you use a FB to create an overload in wide areas.

2. Looking at rotating and filling other players positions if they move out.
