warm-up (20 mins)

Organization:

- 25 X 30 yard area

- 12 players ( 3 groups of 4 players each one)

- 2 balls per group

Instructions:

- 4 players taking up a diamond shape position ( facing each other/sideways on)

1.- Players "B", "D" servers:

Players "A", ""C" working on switching point of attack.

2.- Player "A" receives the ball from "D", then "A" plays the ball to "B".

Player "C" receives the ball from "B", then "C" plays the ball to "D".

* Work on the activity: 2 sets of 30" each one then change side of receiving the ball

Coaching Points:

. Check your shoulder before receiving the ball ( to be aware of your surroundings )

. Open up your hip to receive the ball ( face the field ), to be able to fing the target player on the opposite side as quickly as possible

. Use back foot to receive the ball ( on one touch face the other side of the field )

. Quality of passes ( good pace of the ball )

. Visual cues of target players ( head up, eye contact, lateral movement)

. Inside players ( space, good postioning )

Progressions:

. Add one defender ( 2 balls ) 50% pressure

. Add two defenders ( 1 ball ) full pressure

Main Activity l (5 mins)

Organization:

- 10 x 25 yard area as shown

- 3 groups of 4 players each

- 4 balls per group

Instructions:

- Player "A" plays to "B"

- Player "B" plays back to "A", then "B" gets open to the side of the field ( always facing the ball)

- As "B" gets open, player "C" gets open onto the opposite side of the field

- "A" will play the ball to player "C" as soon as "A" has received it from "B"

- "C" sets the ball for "B", then "B" shoots on goal

- "A" becomes "B", "B" becomes "C", "C" dribbles the ball back and becomes "A".

Coaching Points:

- Check your shoulder before receiving the ball ( to be aware of your surroundings )

- Sideways on to receive the ball

- Quality of passes ( good pace of the ball )

- Look for support

- Create space for you teammate to play into

Progressions:

- Add defenders

- Add players on the flanks

Main Activity ll (40 mins)

Organization:

- 25 x 30 yards area as shown

- 12 plyers ( 2 groups of 6 players each one)

- 4 soccer balls

Instructions:

- Player "A" passes to "B" ( as this happens, player "C" puts pressure on "B"

- Player "A" plays to wideout "D" ( as this happens, player "C" puts pressure on "D"

- Player "D" plays back to "A" ( "A" plays to "E" as soon as "A" has received the ball from "D"

- Player "E" dribbles up and crosses the ball to "D"

- Player "E" runs back to the line he started

- Player "D" gets the ball & dribbles back to the line he started.

Repeat the same play but attacking the opposite side.

Rotation:

- "C" becomes "B", "B" becomes "C"

- "D" becomes "A", "A" becomes "D" ( A,B,C,D work on same places for 2'30" then change positions)

- Groups will rotate after 5' minues of work ( 1 becomes 2, 2 becomes 3, 3 becomes 1)

Caching Points:

Same coaching points as first activity

Progressions:

- Add one defender

- Add two defenders & Goalie

- Add three defenders & Goalie

Conditioned Game (10 mins)

Organization:

- 25 x 30 yard area

- 12 players ( 2 teams of 6 players each )

- 4 v 4 plus 2 neutral players per team.

- Six small goals

Instructions:

- 4 v 4 game + 2 neutral players

- Three goal options to score per team

- Scoring team must come back to the defensive zone as quickly as possible to restart the game

- Team that recieved the goal will restart the game on coach commnds

- Every 3 minutes change servers

Coaching Points:

- Reinforce coaching points listed in activity #1

- Patience! Don't force passes

- Look to play the ball is switched in front of the other outside midfielder or back, ( this is to ensure the pass beats as many defenders as possible to " get in and behind the defense"

Progressions:

- Reduce number of goals

- Not neutral players

Game (15 mins)

Organization:

- 25 x 30 yard area

- 12 players ( three teams of 4 players each one )

- 2 goals

- Lots of ball

Instructions:

- Two teams facing each other ( 4 v 4 )

- Third team ( two goalies, two neutral players set on the sidelines )

- 5 minutes game ( change teams to face each other )

- Play will start from the golies on coach command

Coaching Points:

- Reinforce the coaching points listed in activity #1

- Patience! Do't force passes

- Look to play the ball that is switched in front of the other outside player or back, or through ball if space is open ( this is to ensure the pass beats as many defenders as possible to " get in and behind the defenders )

Progressions:

- Not neutral players
