Attacking the Flanks

Set Up: Field is 15x20 with 3v3+1. 4 goals on the sides with balls layed out next to the outside goals.

Activity: Dark Blue team defends goal B and attacks goal A while Light Blue team defends goal A and attacks goal B. Goals on sidelines are neutral goals that either team can go to. Players look to work ball around field to attack their goal. Ball can be played in to N goal for 1 point, and attacking goal A or B for 3 points. If goal is scored in N, player grabs new ball next to goal and quickly plays. Progress to 4v4, 5v5, etc with neutrals.

Coaching Points: Not forcing ball down middle, using your flank goals to create space and earn points, faking going to the outside with dribble or pass to create space in the defense, then penetrating defense towards the attacking goal. Can be used as a defensive drill to work on defending flank play and switching point of attack.
