Football/Soccer Session Plan Drill (Colour): Main Theme 1

Main Theme 1 (15 mins)

Organization:

1. 20x30 field set up as shown

2. Five players per grid

3. Two balls per grid

Instructions:

1. Player 1 taps the ball to the right side of their body.

2. Player 2 checks away from the defender to the left side of the field.

3. The defenders stay in the middle cutting off the pass to Player 3.

4. Player 1 passes the ball to Player 2 who then passes the ball to Player 3.

5. Player 3 dribbles the ball back to beginning.

6. Rotation: P1 > D > P2 > P3 > P1

Coaching Points:

Receiving - On Ground (Inside)

1. Receive with furthest foot from the ball

2. Slight hop onto standing foot on contact to prepare for next action

3. Receive with the toe pointed up and ankle locked

Progressions:

1. Players work opposite foot

Main Theme 2 (15 mins)

Organization:

1. 20x30 field set up as shown

2. Five players per grid

3. Two balls per grid

Instructions:

1. Player 1 taps the ball to the right side of their body.

2. Player 2 checks away from the defender to the left side of the field.

3. The defenders stays in the middle cutting off the pass to Player 3, as the ball is passed to Player 2 the Defender pressures Player 2.

4. Player 1 passes the ball to Player 2 who then passes the ball to Player 3.

5. Player 3 dribbles the ball back to beginning.

6. Rotation: P1 > D > P2 > P3 > P1

Coaching Points:

Receiving on the Ground - Inside Spin

1. Hips face passing player

2. Control with inside of foot

3. Contact outside of ball to spin across body

Progressions:

1. Players work opposite foot

2. Full Pressure, free play. Players and defender make the choice on what to do
