Part 1 (20 mins)

Organization:

Players play a 4v4+1 possession game, to score, players must make 6 passes, or 4 passes, using the neutral player at least once.

Coaching Points:

- Recognising when you should 'drop in'

- CM on the opposed side when the CB drives out

Notes:

- Players play for 10 minutes without intervention, other than the progressions that occur. Players then play 2x4 minute blocks with a 1 minute intervention when the possession game starts.

Part 2 (20 mins)

Organization:

12 Players, Two teams play with 2 CB, 1 CDM, 2CM, 1ST (at opposide ends). Both teams have a ball each and must move the ball around in their teams.

CBs - Must stay on line

CDM- Must stay in half but full width

CM- Must stay in own half, one in each side

ST - Must stay on top line.

This progresses to the ST allowed to drop in when he doesn't have the ball to receive and the CB to drive out when he has it. This is followed by the two advanced players starting on the wide channels and being able to drop in when the don't have the ball to receive, the ST now becomes a CM. This advances to a 2v2 possession game, with the team in possession being able to use the outside players.

Coaching Points:

- Recognising when you should 'drop in'

- CM on the opposed side when the CB drives out

Notes:

Part 3

Organization:

Attacking team play 2-3-3 (4-3-3) with a feeder

Defending team play 1-4-4 (4-4-1-1) with a target player

The attacking team starts from the feeder and must score in the goal. Defending team must regain possession and score by passing into the target man.

Coaching Points:

- Can the CDM and two CM drop deep to encourage the opposition into a press (use of one-twos)

- Who can exploit the space created (Winger inside, but starting wide. Can attack goal)

- Can the full back overlap as the winger takes his first touch to create a 2v1

- What if the wide midfielder screens that pass (Play into the full back)

- What if the central players press the winger (Try and find the opposite winger in the 'half space' (shaded area) possibly through using the deep lyer

6x 4 minute blocks with 1 minute interventions

Part 4

Organization:

Teams play 2-3-3 (4-3-3)

Coaching Points:

- Starting position when the GK is in possession (CB Split, wingers high and wide)

- When the CDM is in possession, can the winger move inside (CB show confidence to overlap)

- Can the CB drive out if he isn't pressed into the half space (leaving winger space outside)

Notes:

3x 8 minute blocks with 2 minute interventions
