Main activity 1 (10 mins)

Organization:

- Every player with a soccer ball

- Grid 20x30 yards, adjust space depending on number of players

Instructions:

- Players will dribble inside the grid, doing Messi touches (short touches)

Dribbling technique:

Hit ball with the outside of the foot, pinky toe.

- Players need to reach a number of touches, stablish by the coach.

- 30 seconds rest in betweeen

- If ball goes out of grid, player must do 10 toe-taps before coming back into the grid.

Coaching Points:

- Hit ball with the outside of the foot, pinky toe

- Look up, scan the field, where is space,why ?

- Weigth of touch, Why is important.

- Ball under control

- When is a good time to do Messi touches

Progressions:

- Increase/decrease number of touches

- Use of weak foot

Main activity 2 (10 mins)

Organization:

Same as before

Instructions:

- Same as before

- Players will do Ronaldo touches (long touches) at this time

- Same technique, only difference is the length of the touch

Coaching Points:

- Hit ball with the outside of the foot, pinky toe

- Look up, scan the field, where is space ?

- Weight of touch.

- Ball under control

- Look for space to play the ball into

- When is a good time to do Ronaldo touches ?

- How we dribble ? What part of the foot we use ?

Progressions:

- Use of weak foot

- Increase/decrease number of touches.

Conditioned game (10 mins)

Organization:

- Same as before.

Instructions:

- Every player will have 10 points to begin.

- Every time a player loose control of the ball and goes out of grid, player will loose a point.

- Also if a player bump into each other ball will loose a point.

- One minute rounds, 30 seconds rest. Adjust rounds depending on age, fitness

Coaching Points:

- Speed

- Ball control

- Scan the field

- Check shoulders

- Correct technique

Progressions:

- Use of weak foot.

Free play (30 mins)

Organization:

- 20x30 yards grid,adjust as need it

- 4v4 no goalkeepers is ideal, adjust it as need it.

- Formation 2-2

Instructions:

- Free game, reinforce what we did during the session, Messi and Ronaldo touches

- Three minutes games, rotate teams as need it

Coaching Points:

- Correct technique

- Scan the field

- Speed of play

- Ball control
