-dribble few yards and then make a pass

Technical Opposed (25 mins)

Equipment: 12 cones, 2-4 balls

Organization: see above diagram, 3 grids 8x8 to10x10

3v1 Possession Game - 3 groups of 4 players in each grid. The 3 attacking players try to keep the ball away from the 1 defender by passing it around the outside of the area. The defender is trying to intercept the pass down the line. The attacker needs to always have 2 passing options, so their needs to be quick movement off the ball from the other attackers. 10 passes equals a goal. Switch defender regularly.

Progressions/Variations:

-Limit to 3/2/1 touches

-Increase/decrease size of the grid

-Defender can tackle attacker

Key points:

All from above

Movement off the ball - can you make yourself avilable to the player with the ball

Decision making - when to pass quickly/ when to slow the play down, number of touches, receving/passing away/into pressure

Small Sided Game (25 mins)

Equipment: cones, balls, 2 pug nets, bibs x5 and bibs x2

Organization: see above diagram, split area into 2 fields, use cones to make halfway line

It is basically a 6v6 game that is broken down into two 4v2 areas. Teams look to maintain possession of the ball to build play going forward. If a plays a pass into team mate in opposing half, one player can go join in creating a 3v3 (at the GK or at the 2 mini nets).

Progerssions/Variation:

-Only one touch goals count

-Open play (no halfway line) - can the team still maintain the shape?

Key Points:

All from above

Decision making - when to slow it down adn be patient or when to play quick and attack the goal
