Intro Games

To begin the players are split on to 2 pitches with 5 players each, 3v2. The players rotate regularly to ensure they get the opportunity to defend in and out of balance. Offiside is played from the half way line and goals must be scored in the attacking half.

Part Practice

The players are split into 2 pitches with 5 players per pitch. The game is 1v1 + Magic Man and the aim is to pass the ball through the goal. Behind the goal there is a Target Player waiting to recycle the ball to the opposition or Magic Man to work on quick transition from attack to defence.

Rotate Magic Man & Target Players.

Game

1) 2 attackers are positioned on the edge of the penalty area with 1 defenders inside the area and 1 outside. The GK starts the game by distributing the ball to one of the attackers, on their first touch the defender outside of the area can recover. The first defender must work on identifying when and how to delay and the second defender where to recover to.

2) To progress, play the same game but create a 2v2. There is also a floating player in the middle zone who can assist either team. The defenders can score by dribbling into the central zone or passing to the floating player who can either pass straight in to an attacker or drive in and make a 3v2.

3) Now remove one of the balls and play as a full pitch game, still with the players locked into their zones.

4) Finally, finish with free play.
