Warm-up (20 mins)

Players will be moving around inside the box. They will do progressions:

- Bouncing ball coming back up to the hands

- Bouncing ball high going up to catch

- Around the leg

- Around the waist

- On your back around the legs

- Figure 8

Coaching Points:

- " W " or contour catches when bouncing back ball

- Knee up for protection on high ball

- Communication

- Always shuffling

- Figure 8 and around exercises should be one fluid motion

Footwork with Powerstep (20 mins)

Players will move through cones in a zig zag manor incorporating the powerstep when they hit each cone. Go to the back of the line and repeat.

Coaching Points:

- Keep in mind about coming and attacking the ball instead of being horizontal.

Instructed steps (20 mins)

Players will have a ball and be instrcuted by the coaching on which step to perform in that order. The four steps that will be called out are:

1. Set

2. Powerstep

3. Collapse

4. Protect

Coaching Points:

- Protect is having the knee up when we dive

- 3 hands on the ball

- Powerstep is better when we make an angle to meet the ball at

- Head fixed behind the ball

Partner work (20 mins)

Players will get with a partner to take turns with collapse dives near the body while catch the ball. Players will be putting the steps together to be able to comlplete the process of a collapse dive.

Coaching Points:

- 3 hands on the ball

- Work with the powerstep

- Cut the angle off with our powerstep

- Head fixed behind the ball

- Protect with the knee

Ultimate Frisbee - soccer version (30 mins)

Players will play ultimate frisbee style but with soccer ball. Once players catch the ball they will have two steps and then they have to throw it to a teammate and catch it. If they drop the ball then it is a turnover. Players are allowed to intercept the ball and bat it down if needed.
