RWTB - Exploring different turning surfaces (10 mins)

Organisation

Area: 20x20 yard area

Each player has a ball and is free to move around the area.

How to play

The players in possession explore the area, focusing on identifying various surfaces of the foot they can use to turn.

In order to progress, allow the players to dribble towards other players and perform turns.

If players are having success, reduce the size of the area to increase interference and test their turning and running with the ball ability.

Organisation

Area: 20x20 yards

Group is split into 3 with reds as illustrated starting with the ball.

The other two groups spread out around the area.

How to play

The red group run the ball out to a player on the outside and perform a one-two with a green player and then pass to a blue on the outside.

The red player then takes the blue players place on the outside.

Progressions

1. Larger area to increase more space to run with the ball.

2. Add defenders who can win the ball.

RWTB - American football game (20 mins)

Organisation

Area: 30x20 yards, with two end zones.

4v4 is the recommended number of players per team.

Different coloured bibs for players.

How to play

Team in possession aim to score by running with the ball into end zones.

As a directional game the team that scores must leave the ball in the end zone allowing the other team to collect and attack the other way.

Once a team has reached the 'end zone' they are safe and cannot be tackled in that zone.

Combine with their teammates to create opportunities to run with the ball into end zones.

Give each team the numerical advantage for five minutes and see which team socres the most goals.

If the team score when 'underloaded' the goal counts for double.

Progressions

1. Reduce or increase the size of the area.

2. Alter the size of the end zones.

3. Have uneven teams to challenge some and also make it easier for others.
