Ball Mastery and Turns (30 mins)

Set up:

-place cones in rows as illustrated - 5 yards between each cone.

-Players work in 2's as shown.

Activity:

1.Basic FIFA 11+ warm up

2. Players perform different footskills up and down the channels - inside and outside, toe taps, soccer boxes, drags.

3. Move onto Turns

Shuttles - each cone will be a different turn (use right and left foot)

a. inside cut

b. Stop-hop

c. Step-over turn

d. Outside cut

e. Pull back

f. L-shape

g. Cruyff

4. 3 types of dribbling - small, medium, large (perform for 3 minutes flat)

Dosage:

Intensity: Moderate to high

Reps: 3 per exercise

Rest: 15-30 seconds between each exercise

Coaching Points:

-close control

-use all surfaces of the foot

-keep your head up and use periheral vision

-change of direction and acceleration.

1 v 1 sharp turns (20 mins)

Set up:

-As shown in the diagram

Activity:

- 1 v 1

- Atatcker checks to the line and recieves a pass. The Defender comes up behind the attacker.

-The attacker must try to turn their defender and dribble the ball back to where they came from.

-If the defender wins the ball they get the ball back to the passer.

-Points are rewarded when the attacker successfully dribbles back to where they came from

-Keep rotating positions each rep.

Dosage:

Intensity: High

Duration: 15-45 seconds per rep

Reps: 6-10

Sets: 2

Rest: 15-45 seconds between rep. 1 minute between set.

Coaching Points:

-Aim - use your upper body to defend the ball - can you put your opponents off balance.

-close control

-short opposite movements to create a yard of space.

-use your body to protect the ball and turn the defender

-change direction

-Balance and strength, be able to hold the defender off the ball

-identify the space and accelerate into it

Set up:

- 30 x 20 yards

- 2 mini goals

- 4 v 4

- 10 x 10 yards 1 v 1 field

Activity:

-4 v 4

- If a player scores they select a player from the other team and go play 1 v 1 to the end line.

Dosage:

Intensity: High

Duration per game: 3 minutes

Reps: 4-6

Rest: 1 minute between games

Coaching Points:

- encourage 1 v 1 dribbling and turns.

-Can players beat their opponent 1 v 1 then look to make the pass to the next zone or score.

-Balance and Strength tp beable to hold off your defender.

-Be prepared to play under pressure

- less coaching, let them play.
