Foxes and Rabbits (10 mins)

Set Up

Make a 20x20 area. Select 2 or 3 players to be the foxes and all the remaining players are the rabbits.

Instructions

The players that are the rabbits put a pinnie in their shorts so that it looks like a tail. The foxes start on the outside of the area and on the coaches command run in and try to steal the pinnis from the rabbits.

Make sure to rotate so that a variety of the players get a chance of being a fox.

Progression 1- add in the balls so that the rabbits have to dribble around the area.

Coaching points

Look for open space

Get your body between the defender (fox) and the pinnie.

Technical Dribbling (20 mins)

Set Up

Make a 20x20 area and spread the players out with a ball each.

Instructions

All the players have a ball at their feet and dribble freely around the area. Add in a single scissor, V turn, pull back turn, foundations and toe taps. Make sure you practice on both feet.

Progression 1- dribble using the laces only.

Progression 2- dribble going inside, outside

Progression 3- dribbling going laces, inside, outside

Progrssion 4- dribble going inside, inside, outside

Progression 5- dribble going outside, outside, inside

Coaching Points

Try your best

Use the part of the foot you are being asked to.

Try and have small touches to keep close control of the ball.

Get your head up as much as possible, look for space.

1v1's (20 mins)

Set Up

Make a 25x21 area and split the players into 2 teams. Set up 2 goals at each end like the picture above.

Instructions

White attack first against purple, if they score they then defend against a new purple that enters the area with the ball. If the origonal purple wins the ball and scores they now defend against a new white that enters the area with a ball.

Progression 1- 2v1 numbers up

Progression 2- 2v1 numbers down

Progression 3- 2v2

Coaching Points

Attack space,

Accelerate after you beat the defending player.

Try to use the skill moves that we learnt earlier.

9V5 (25 mins)

Set Up

Use half of a field with a regular goal at one end and 2 small goals at the other end.

Instructions

Set the players up in their 9 a side formation against 5 defenders. The keeper starts with the ball and roles it out to the defenders. They then play forward from the back against the 5 defending players with the aim of scoring. If the defending players win the ball they can attack the goal.

Progression 1- can we score with everyonw touching the ball at least once.

Coaching Points

When the keeper has the ball the defenders need to drop and go wide.

When receiving the ball by side on so that you get a positive first touch and so that you can play forward quickly.

Wide midfielders get as wide as possible when the defender gets the ball.

Play the ball forward quickly.
