Technical

On Arrivial: (Prior to start Dynamic)

Game of "Scoops" - Highlights receiving out of the air and introduces using different surface techniques to test the players teammates.

Organization:

As shown in diagram

Dynamic Warm-up:

1. Jog to cone and back twice

2. Open the gate to the cone, close the gate on our way back

3. Half kicks (Cross the body; Knee to elbow) to cone, Light extension - Full kicks on our way back.

4. High knees to cone, butt kicks on our way back.

5. Side shuffle facing one direction to cone - switch direction half way in between. Two alternating side skips on our way back.

6. Small skips down, big skips on our way back.

7. Move on to SAQ with cones.

SAQ:

1. One foot in each space between the cones. Explode and increase speed in the the space between the two set of cones. Go through two times. First time with one foot, second with opposite. Jog on the way back.

2. One foot in each space between the cones, alternating feet. Increase speed in between the two set of cones. Go through once. Jog on the way back.

3. Two feet in each space between the cones. Increase speed in between the two set of cones. Go through once. Jog on the way back.

4. Side shuffle in and out of the space between the cones. Make sure leg closest to cones is bent, knee even with ankle - never over toes, and back leg extended. Have the players go through this movement the first holding for one second in between each shuffle (leaning in toward the cones) the first time. Then allow the players to go through again but with increased speed. Jog on the way back.

5.  Hips facing sideways have players move in between cones side-stepping with two feet in each space. As second foot follows, place the leading foot in the next gap. Once player finishes each set have them turn their hips forward and explode into space. Go through two times. Jog on the way back on each.

3v3 Rondo

Organization:

Two 15x15 yard grids are created side-by-side as shown in Diagram (b) below. Goalkeepers are positioned at each end of the grids to act as target players. A 4v4 is organized in each grid as shown. The setup is repeated to accommodate the entire team. Note - Two games of 4v4 are illustrated

Instructions:

One player from the defending team must remain in the opposite grid as shown above. The other 3 teammates must attempt to gain possession from the 4 opposing players. This creates a numbers-down situation for the defensive team and forces them to work as a unit to regain possession. If the defensive team wins possession they must quickly switch the ball to their teammate in the opposite grid. Immediately they must travel to support the play. In the Diagram above, Player (A) has won possession of the ball and quickly passes to his/her teammate in the opposite grid. The blues will now transition quickly to support the play while the yellow team must send over 3 players to defend. Points are awarded for a successful switch and 7 consecutive passes.

Coaching Points:

• Work together to defend as a unit

• Attempt to regain possession quickly.

• Immediately look to switch the ball on gaining possession.

• Travel quickly to support the play.

3v2 (25 mins)

Organization:

Half Field

Requires minimum of 5 players (coach as server)

2 Stations will be ran at the same time

Additional players will create a short line behind #10/8

1 Ball; Additional off to the side with #10/8

Instructions:

1. Refer to Rotation.

2. Players are score 1 of 3 ways.

(i) Situation: #7 Receives the ball and defenders don't shift over quickly enough = Go to goal.

(ii) Situation: #7 Receives the ball, one defender shifts over to pressure, can we beat that defender 1v1?

(iii) Situation: #7 Receives the ball, both defenders shift over to pressure the ball, can we beat them with a pass (on the ground) to #11?

(Iv) Situation: #7 Receives the ball, both defenders shift over to pressure (compact), and #11 is not an option. Can we find #9 on the far post with a lofted pass over the other teams defensive line?

Rotation:

#10/8 > #9 > #7 > #11 > #4/5 (after three times through as an attacker)

Coaching Points:

1. Off the ball movement. Away to create space and to receive the ball.

2. Vision - checking to see where teammates movement is and recognizing the defenders positioning.

3. Decision making. Refer to Instructions.

Progressions:

(P) - 3v2 and 2v2 +1N

Small field divided in half replicating the 3v2 scenario in the previous activity

Coaching Points:

1. Off the ball movement. Away to create space and to receive the ball.

2. Vision - checking to see where teammates movement is and recognizing the defenders positioning.

3. Decision making. Refer 3v2 Scenarios.
