Warm Up (15 mins)

SET UP:

Players have to move around the 'city' and the cones are the 'buildings' to make sure that they do not crash.

Traffic Light commands to enable the players to know what to do. Red = Stop. Green = Go.

Add Yellow light where the players have to change the way they move (Hop, skip, sideways, backwards etc.)

On Red light the players have to perform a balance (choose how many points touch the floor).

KEY POINTS:

Head Up to see where the other cars and buildings are so not to crash.

Quick change of direction and change of speed.

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

Add 'police' as taggers if player is caught they are frozen until they receive a high five from another player.

Technical T1 (25 mins)

SET UP:

Players in same area as before but now have a ball. They continue to move around the 'city' avoiding the other 'cars' and 'buildings'.

Same commands - Red = Stop with foot on the ball. Green = Go. Yellow = Perform a skill/Dribble.

Using different parts of the foot to dribble - Inside, outside, bottom, laces.

KEY POINTS:

1. Use of different parts of the foot to manipulate the ball.

2. Weight of touch (keep it close to the foot/body)

3. Playing with head up (aware of other players, defenders and space).

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

Players have to perform a skill when passing through the gate.

On coach command 'find a new car', stop the ball and then run to find another ball as quickly as possible.

Technical 2 (25 mins)

SET UP:

'Police' now trying to catch the players (police also have a ball each). If players are caught they have to do a skill (ie toe taps) before rejoining the race.

KEY POINTS:

1. Use of different parts of the foot to manipulate the ball.

2. Weight of touch (keep it close to the foot/body)

3. Playing with head up (aware of other players, defenders and space).

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

Police will have to tag players with the ball.

Police have to 'catch' the ball with a bib.

Police have to throw their ball to hit the players ball.

Police have to kick their ball to hit players ball.

'Police' now do not have a ball when they get the ball from the player the roles are reversed.

Conditioned Game (20 mins)

SET UP:

Mini goals on every side of the area. Two teams of 'racers' and 'police'. The police are trying to put the cars into the 'impound' (2 goals opposite each other) and the racers are trying to get the cars into their 'garage'. (The other 2 goals)

KEY POINTS:

1) Identification of space.

2) Utilisation of space.

3) Positivity to play forward (dribble towards the goal.)

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

Remove two goals and play traditional game.
