Ball Mastery (10 mins)

Organization:

30x30yrd grid. Cones scattered in various areas of the grid

Instructions:

- Players to dribble around the area in/out of the cones.

- Players with a ball each doing ball mastery moving from cone to cone: bell touches, outside/inside, toe taps, rolls, roll-stop etc. (moves carried out using inside, outside, and bottom of the left foot and right foot)

- Players to practice dribbling moves at the cones that had been done in previous session (feint move/double feint move/scissor/double scissors)

Coaching Points:

Messi vs Ronaldo touches.

- Head up and look for space (look for a cone that other players are not going to). Also when doing the ball mastery look forward at the cone, training to get head up when moving with the ball.

- Body position low when performing the dribbling move to change direction

- Moves done at speed and under control

- Various dribbling moves

SAQ (15 mins)

Organization:

As above

Instructions:

Defenders (in blue) must stay on line between cones. Attackers try

to get past all three defenders without having the pinnie (tucked

into their shorts on one hip) pulled out. If defender catches pinnie,

the attacker goes back to the start. Second attacker can begin

once first attacker beats the first defender, or gets caught. Swap

defenders every minute.

Coaching Points:

- Recognize position of defender

- Attack space

- Speed of thought and movement

- Use of change in direction if defender closes space ahead

- Can you use your body to protect the pinnie as you change

direction?

Main Theme1 (20 mins)

Organization:

grid- players with ball- cones as shown

Instructions:

players start in both sides the same time and dribbling the ball to the cone, execute Ronaldo Chop move and finish in the other side of the grid.

Coaching Points:

- Keep ball close, touch on every step

- Head up whilst dribbling

- Quality of move (both feet off ground, swivel hips, snap ball out of

feet)

- Bigger touch out of move, head up, change speed

Progressions:

players will execute the move and pass to the next player

Main Theme2 (20 mins)

Organization:

20x15yrd field, 4 small gates, balls, 2 teams (Att) (Def)

Instructions:

Defender pass the ball to the Attacker and try to make recovery run,attacker will receive and try to score by reaching to the endline.

Defenders will try to close the space and win the ball, if so Defender can score in the net.

Coaching Points:

- Quality of first touch

- Awareness of defender

- Decision; continue forward or cut back inside

- Quality of move (timing, execution, exit touch)

Progressions:

- Play from both sides

- ball start from the coach to any side.

Coaching Points:

- Three lines of attack (Width, Depth, Length)

- Penetration as option one (Shot, pass, dribble)

- Possession as option two

- Angles of support (Can you make a triangle?)

- Distance of support (Can you make the triangle as big as

possible?)

- Timing of support (as ball travels)

- Speed of thought and movement in transition

- Correct moment to apply the session topic
