Individual Ball Control (10 mins)

SET UP: 2 areas (20x40), each player has a ball, each player self-serves. Start with foot control, then thigh, chest and head.

Key Points: body inline with flight of ball, eyes on ball, trapping ball with wedge stop place use body weight on ball, top of foot using cushioning technique of dropping foot to ground on impact

CONSIDERATIONS: Use of both legs

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS: work in twos and serve to each other

Robin Hood (15 mins)

SET UP:

Split players into four equal teams

Each team starts in their own area in each corner

On coaches call, one player from each team runs into the middle and collects one ball

Players dribble back and tag the next player in their group who then repeats

Keep going until all the balls in the middle are gone

Key Points:

Speed with and without the ball

Keeping the ball under control

Quick turns in the middle

Head up

POTENTIAL PROGRESSION

Divide the balls equally between each corner

All players go at the same time

Collect one ball from another teams corner and dribble back to their corner

Ball must be stopped inside square

Player then goes to a different corner and repeats

Play for 2/3 minutes. Team with most balls wins !

No tackling or guarding own square

Dribble session

SET UP: 1 Line with "cones-defender" small touches, 1 line with no cones in mittle so big touch,

KEY POINTS: Keep your head up. Different touches on the ball

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS: Add defender, use of different foot, limited amount of touches.

1 vs 1 Quick Attack

SET UP: 20x15, 2 goals on each side. X1 start by dribbling across as quick as possible to score in either goal. As soon as X1 have scored a goal, X2 start to dribble to the other side X1 starting to chase him trying to steal the ball. After X2 either score or X1 take the ball then X3 starts his attempt to score goals in the opposit goals.

KEY POINTS:

Close ball controll, keep head up to find space, as quick as possible to score goal, change direction to make it harder for defender.

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

Add defender from start, Add GK and use just one goal. Bigger area so the defender have more time to recover.
