8 v 8 Conditioned Game (20 mins)

8 v 8 Game: 1 v 1 Attacking Principles (20 mins)

Set-Up: Field is 70yds long x 50yds split in to thirds and 2 goals at either end. Two equal teams, with 2 GK's and 2 Target players who must remain in the attacking 1/3. Balls distributed beside goal to keep the game flowing when balls go out of play.

Instructions: Play 8 v 8 with no offside. Re-start from the GK with a free ball in to Target (T) player's feet when a goal is scored or ball goes out of play.

Coaching Points: Stay switched on - immediate transition from defending to attacking

1st Attacker - facing goal tactics - a.Get at defender with pace b.Use trick or feint to entice defender to dive in c.Exploit space beyond defender d.Change of pace to get beyond the defender e.Be creative and explosive

1st Attacker - facing away from goal tactics – a. Shield the ball b. body position c. strength on the ball d. use of tricks/feints/turns to retain possession

Keep Ball (20 mins)

Keep Ball

Set-Up: Grids are 10yds x 10yds.

Instructions: Players play 1 v 1. Attacker attempts to retain possession. If defender dispossesses then he/she retains possession. If ball exits grid, last player to touch the ball before going out defends. Players gain 1 point for each change in possession they create.

1 v 1 Facing Forward (20 mins)

Set-Up: 3 grids 10 yds x 15yds. Defender with a ball at one end of grid, attacker at the other end.

Instructions: Server S plays ball in to attacker, who attempts to turn defender to get beyond in to space to gain the opposing line. Attacker scores: 1 point for dribbling ball over opponents goal line or 3 points for dribbling ball through the central goal. Defender can win ball and counter to score on opponents goal line. Rotate players.
