Aim:

- To develop attacking moves and apply them effectively in a 1 v 1 situation and a full sided game

Duration of session: 1 hour 30 minutes

Ball Mastery and attacking moves (30 mins)

Set up:

-place cones in rows as illustrated - 5 yards between each cone.

-Players work in 4's as shown.

Activity:

1.Basic FIFA 11+ warm up

2. Players perform different footskills up to the large cone and back to their start cone - inside and outside, toe taps, soccer boxes, drags.

3. Move onto Attacking Moves.

Large cone is a defender. Players dribble at the same time and perform the attacking move finishing at the opposite end to which they start. Repeat with left and right foot.

c. Double Scissors

d. Wave

e. Stop and go

f. Step-over

Dosage:

Intensity: Moderate to high

Reps: 3 per exercise

Rest: 15-30 seconds between each exercise

Coaching Points:

-close control

-use all surfaces of the foot

-keep your head up and use periheral vision

-Beat the defender, accelerate into open space.

1 v 1 - run the gaunlet (25 mins)

Set up:

-As shown in the diagram

Activity:

- 1 v 1

- Attacker dribbles at the defender, performs an attacking move and attempts to score by dribbling the ball to the end line

-Defenders are only allowed to move from side to side

-If defender wins the ball they just kick it away

-Keep rotating defender after each set

-Progress to 2 or 3 defenders in the gaunlet

Dosage:

Intensity: High

Duration: 15-45 seconds per rep

Reps: 4-6

Sets: 3

Rest: 15-45 seconds between rep. 1 minute between set.

Coaching Points:

-Aim - use your upper body to defend the ball - can you put your opponents off balance.

-close control

-short opposite movements to create a yard of space.

-use your body to protect the ball and beat the defender

-Balance and strength, be able to hold the defender off the ball

-identify the space and accelerate into it

7 v 7 - SSG (30 mins)

Set up:

- 47 x 35 yards

- 2 goals

- 7 v 7 (1-2-3-1 vs 1-2-3-1)

-add an additional small field at the side for 3 v 3 (this will be for the subs).

Activity:

-7 v 7

-3 v 3

-Free play

Dosage:

Intensity: High

Duration per game: 6 minutes

Reps: 4-6

Rest: 1 minute between games

Coaching Points:

- encourage 1 v 1 dribbling and moves

-Can players beat their opponent 1 v 1 then look to make the pass to the next zone or score.

-Balance and Strength tp beable to hold off your defender.

-Be prepared to play under pressure

- less coaching, let them play.

-Positional awareness ready for the weekend
