Technical Repitition

Organization:

4 Players per group

15 x 25 area

1 Ball per group (Extras off to the side)

Players broken up into groups as shown

Instructions:

Unopposed

1. Players set up as shown. Two players on the endline, and two in the center one from yellow and blue.

2. Players in the center grid work for 2 minutes and then switch with the endline players.

3. Players in the center are looking to receive the ball from the players on the opposite team positioned at the endline.

4. If yellow receives the ball from blue with pressure on his/her back, yellow will look to spin the ball inside or outside with his/her first touch to beat the defender.

5. Yellow then passes the ball to the yellow endline player and sets back to apply pressure to the blue player receiving the ball.

6. The blue player will look to drag the defender back to create space to receive the ball in and check back for the ball.

7. The defender looks to close down the space quickly, low, with knees bent and on toes, mirroring the attackers feet. Defender does not tackle yet. Focus is on Speed of approach and Body shape.

Semi-opposed

1. Same as before, however defenders will look to win the ball back pass it to their teammate on the endline or force their opponent to pass the ball back.

2. If the defender is successful in forcing their opponent to pass the ball back, he/she earns one point. After forcing the ball back the defender will switch role with their teammate on the endline.

3. Once the receiving player passes the ball back to the endline player, the endline player will look to make a long pass to the opposite endline to reset the activity and attempt to turn on the defender.

4. If the receiving player passes the ball back he/she must quickly run around an orange cone and defend the endline player who has just entered the channel and is looking to connect the two endlines.

5. If the receiving player connects the two points he/she gets a point.

6. Same scenario plays out if the defender wins possession of the ball and plays the ball back to their teammate.
