Area Size - 20x20.

5 Minutes. 2 minutes 30 secs for each team.

Players are divided into 2 teams prior to starting this drill to save time later in the session.

- After the 2 Minutes are up, the team with the ball pass it to the team without the balls.

Blocked (15 mins)

Blocked. 20 Minutes. Each zone is 5 yards wide.

The 20 Minutes will be broken down into 2 minutes of working followed by 1 minutes Rest. (High Intensity).

-1 team are given a ball and the players on the other team must stand directly opposite a player with a ball (like partners).

-The players with the ball must pick up the ball and hold in their hands ready to throw it to the approaching player.

- When the player without the ball moves towards the player with the balls, they must call for the ball.

- Once the player has thrown the ball, the player must control the ball then return it to the player who threw it, the player who controlled it must also return to where they started from. (at the cones behind them).

- Each player has their allocated zones they must try to keep the ball in throughout the whole of the exercise.

Each 2 minutes of working will be concentrating on using a different controlling technique. E.g. the first 2 minutes may be working on cushion header back to the thrower. After the 2 minutes are up, the ball switches possession, so they player who just worked on their control will now be working on their throwing technique.

When the player throws the ball, it must be thrown in a throw-in style/technique.

Correct way to take a throw-in;

- Find the target your going to throw too.

- Hold the ball in 2 hands behind the head.

- Keep 2 feet firmly on the floor when throwing the ball.

Equipment needed:

-16 Cones

- 7 Balls

- 14 bibs.

Variable (15 mins)

10 Minutes. Split into 5 2 minute blocks for each team.

Similar principles to the Blocked part of the session.

1 team has the ball ready to throw it in to the player who calls for it.

The only change is, player can now recieve the ball off any player, but after they have returned the ball to the thrower they still need to return to the back line of cnes behind them then go again to a different player with a ball.

Player switch roles every 2 minutes. Rest period is when players are taking the throw-ins.

Random/ Game (20 mins)

20 Minutes.

Player are already in 2 teams from early on in the session, no need to change the teams unless it is needed.

- Play as a normal game.

How to score;

- to score 1 point player just need to put the ball in the goal.

- to score 2 points, players need to include at least 1 type of aerial control before scoring in the goal without losing pssessin of the ball.

- to score 5 points, a player from the team must recieve the ball behind the coned area. Once the player has received the ball they must pick it up and throw it in to a player on the same team as them, the player who recieves the ball must pass it to another player on their team. (returning to th thrower counts!).
