3v2 w/ counter attack (FBs) (25 mins)

Set Up: Divide the group into attacking players and defending players. Two goals with two GKers. Two FBs outside the field of play wide in the defensive third.

Instructions: Play 3v2 to score.

* As soon and the ball is won or a shot is held, the two FBs join to make it 4v3 on the counter.

* The coach can also call for a '2nd ball' or a 'counter' and the FBs join.

* Counter at speed for one attempt at goal (with rebounds or second chances).

* All restarts begin with a pinged ball from the defending team and are 3v2 for the attackers.

Coaching Points: Creative movement in attack. Anticipate counter attacking opportunities. Attack at speed (whether initially or on the counter). Creative movment to unbalance the defenders. Proper and appropriate technique with finishing opportunities. Balance to deal with counter.

2v2 to 4v2 when D wins ball (25 mins)

Set up: Two teams of 8 or more. Two goals with GKers. ~ field size of 35-50 m x 35-40 m.

Instructions: Play 2v2 transition rules with the following additions:

1. If the D wins the ball, not only can they keep it and go to goal, but

2. Two additional players can join to make it 4v2

3. Once that attack is done, the two additional players become the defenders,

4. The original 4 that were playing leave and

5. Two new players step out to begine the attack

6. The ball always starts with the team that did not initiate the last attack
