Warm Up (10 mins)

Organization:

1. Set up field as shown. Two cones set up 10 yards apart (can be moved further or closer depending on age and skill level)

2. One player near each cone

3. Additional balls if needed

Instructions:

-Simple back and forth passing that will progress into incorporating the cone.

-Players begin by passing to each other and working on the technique of receiving the ball properly, using the cone as a guide to how far they should be

-Play can then progress with players now having to receive the ball and have their touch take the ball behind the cone from right to left or left to right of the cone.

-Can make a competition among the groups of who can get the most passes in a set amount of time(given that every player is still taking a touch to receive and a touch to pass, and following any other instructions)

Coaching Points:

1. Receive with furthest foot from the ball

2. Receive with the toe pointed up and ankle locked

3. Angle ofapproach – center

4. First touch shouldn't stop the ball right on your foot, touch should take the ball into space so you can dribble or pass with your next action.

Progressions:

1. P - Move the cone further away from each other.

2. P - Allow players to play a flighted ball.

3. R - Move players close to each other.

4. R - Allow players to have more than one touch when receiving the ball

Kockdown the Cone (15 mins)

Organization:

1. Set up field as shown. Two cones set up 10 yards apart (can be moved further or closer depending on age and skill level)

2. One player near each cone

3. Additional balls if needed

Instructions:

Players will pass the ball through their partners legs to try and knock down the cone for 1 point

Players will then rotate trying to know over the cone with a pass

Demonstrating the proper technique of the Inside Pass

Coaching Points:

1. Receive with furthest foot from the ball

2. Receive with the toe pointed up and ankle locked

3. Angle of approach – center

4. First touch shouldn't stop the ball right on your foot, touch should take the ball into space so you can dribble or pass with your next action.

Progressions:

Receiving players can open and close legs to make it more challenging for the passing player

Main Activity 2 (15 mins)

Organization:

1. Size of the center circle set up as shown

2. 12 players (8 Servers, 4 Receivers) set up as shown

3. 8 balls (Additional around the outside)

Instructions:

1. Players on the outside of the circle start with the ball and ask for a pass from players inside the circle

2. Ask the players to receive the ball with the inside part of the foot

3. Once they pass, run as close as they can to the center cone and find a new partner to make a wall pass

Coaching Points:

1. Get in line with the ball

2. Select appropriate surface, Inside, Outside, Thigh, Chest, Head

3. Withdraw surface on impact

4. Arms out for balance and to feel for defenders

Progressions:

1. P-Vary the serve to make controlling more difficult

2. P-Add pressure by adding defenders
