Warm-Up (20 mins)

Organiztion:

-Grid 15 x 15

-Three teams

-One ball per team

Activity:

-Passing the ball to teammates and moving around the area.

-Exercises/Dynamic stretches when not in possession.

Progression:

Ask players to see if they can receive the ball between people and, most importantly, on the run.Encourage this by asking them to take their 1st touch towards a marker on the outside.

Passing Pattern Progression #2 (10 mins)

Organization:

1. Two Groups of 4 players

2. Each group plays in a grid (15x15)

3. One ball per group

4. Coach with soccer balls outside grid

Instructions:

1. Players must remenber their numbers

2. Players will not pass the ball in sequence anymore

3. Passing - Receiving -Moving inside your own grid

4. When coach calls out a # (ex:4) both 4's from each team must go into opponent box an steal ball

5. When defender comes in, players must attempt to possess the ball (3v1)

6. If they make 3 passes they will recieve a point, when point is received try to keep making as many passes as possible (ex 9 passes on a row = 3 points)

7. If defender wins it he goes back to his grid without the ball

8. team with the most point at the end wins.

Coaching Points:

1. Receiving Technique ( Cushion on contact)

2. Passing Technique (Accuracy & pace of pass)

3. Movement off the ball

a. Wide

b.Check to (angle)

4. Always moving even if your # is not next. Always look to move and be involved

5. Communicate to your teammate where you are (where you want the ball ex: feet)

6. Importance of keeping (possessing) the ball

Fully Opposed (10 mins)

Organization:

1. 30x30 field set up as shown

2. Separate players into 3 teams, each with a different color pinnie

3. Two teams on the inside of the field and one team on the outside as supporting players

4. 1 ball with additional if needed

Instructions:

1. Teams on the inside of the field maintain possession by passing and moving.

2. Teams are trying to earn points, points can be earned two ways.

3. #1) Can be earned by passing the ball to a supporting player on the outside of the field and receiving it back without the defending team touching the ball. The same player must receive the ball back, if another teammate does then the team maintains possession but a point is not earned.

4. #2) Team makes five passes without the defending team touching the ball

5. Each team has unlimited touches, the supporting players have to get rid of the ball before the count of ten.

6. Teams will play for 3 minutes then rotate out. Each team will play against each other on the inside, with each team playing the supporting role on the outside as well.

Coaching Points:

1. Counter quickly on transition before opposition can organize

2. If counter is not optional maintain possession

3. Maintain width and depth when attacking

4. 2nd attacker to offer support

5. 3rd & 4th attacker to play away from the ball or make attacking run in behind

Progressions:

1. Add touch restriction

Conditioned Game (10 mins)

Organization:

1. 30x30 field set up as shown

2. Separate players into 3 teams, each with a different color pinnie

3. Two teams on the inside of the field and one team on the outside as supporting players

4. 1 ball with additional if needed

Instructions:

1. Teams on the inside of the field maintain possession by passing and moving.

2. Teams are trying to earn points, points can be earned two ways.

3. #1) By scoring a goal in their team goal

4. #2) By passing the ball to a supporting player on the outside of the field and receiving it back without the defending team touching the ball and scoring a goal. Any teammate can receive the ball from the outside supporting player to earn two points.

5. Each team has unlimited touches, the supporting players have to get rid of the ball before the count of ten.

6. Teams will play for 3 minutes then rotate out. Each team will play against each other on the inside, with each team playing the supporting role on the outside as well.

Coaching Points:

Free Play (10 mins)

Organization:

5 v 5

Instructions:

Players split up into 4 teams and play a round robin tournament where all teams play.

Coaching Points:

-Create as much space for player in possession

-Try to create a triangle at all to give good angle of support.

-Look to gaps to attack

-First thought is to go forward then if nothing is on, play back to start again.
