3v1 Keep Away (10 mins)

3v1 Keep Away Warm-up: Grid: 10 x 10 Yards. GU9&GU10: 15x10 yards

Progression:

1) GU9&GU10: Standard keep away. # player's 1-4. Player one has to win the ball 3 times before they can go out. Then rotate in numerical order. Have one full rotation go before introducing coaching points.

2) Introduce, calling name of player or else have to go in and perform 3 burpees. Why this rule?

Why? Perfect passing & receiving technique with pressure, movement off the ball and supporting angles.

3) 3v1 Keep away with transition. GU9&GU10 can progress to that.

-First to ten points win.

-Offensive team scores by completing 5 passes. (olders). 3 for youngers.

-Defender scores by intercepting the ball, ball leaving the area, offensive team not calling name of person they are passing to (all 1 point)

-Defender can also score by dribbling out of on of the sides to score 2 points.

Progression: 2 touch max.

Coaching Points: Offensive players must always ***receive ball across body with hips open to the field (when is the only time not to? if defender is on you, what can you do?) What is your response when you lose the ball? Need to close down immediately and win ball back and try to keep possession. What should supporting players be doing? No one should ever be standing. Constant adjustments in their movements.

*** needs to be stressed every session, whenever we don't see it happening, we need to address it. Building block of TIC (Technical Inisght Communication).

4v4+4 Combination Game (15 mins)

4v4+4 Combination Game: 30x30 for U9&U10

Rules

- 3 teams of 4. One team is on the oustide as neutrals with two touch restriction. Two teams in the middle playing possession.

- 4 consecutive passes is 1 point

- Winner stays on

- 4 minute games

- Losing team has fitness

*remaining players can play rondo or work on driving the ball from far distances.

Progression:

i. three touch max

ii. Any wall-pass or third man combination counts as 1 point

Coaching Points:

1) Players on outside actively moving

2) I would rather you dribble at opponent than laterally

3) As you see defender approaching you, play it before she closes you down.

4) There's always a better option with movement

5) If you don't have a combination and you can't face up, lay it back and spin off and support target on the other side.

6) Receive with hips open to field whenever possible

Shooting U9 & U10 (15 mins)

Shooting U9&U10's.

-Players pair up and have to pass the ball back and forth before getting a shot on goal.

- Option: two pairs start at opposing goals and have them going at the same time trying to avoid the other team.

-Spacing has to be 10 yards between players for goal to count. Why? (too easy to defend)

Progression:

1) For goal to count players must get a shot within 6 seconds.

2) Players start on opposite ends and go at the same time. Have to try and pass without colliding with other team

3) Players must directionally control ball across body

4) Players have to take two touches

5) Add a defender in each half to make it more diffcult.

GU9&GU10: 6v6 Game. (30 mins)

6v6 Game for U9 and U10's.

- Divide the field into three channels (can use my flat field markers)

- Have them play 6v6. Make sure offensively they have decent spacing.

- The lines will give them an idea of where they should be.

Coaching Points: Ask them why the lines are there?

Also, can we teach them to: once both center backs open up and the GK plays one of them, the opposite center back needs to tuck in to allow the #6 CM to move forward and be an option for the #4 or #5 CB. Please look at lines for more information.
