Warm up 1 touch passing (15 mins)

Warm up 1 Touch Passing

5 or 7 yard square

Ball starts at 1 and is passed diagonally to 2

Players follow their pass. Player at 2 one touch passes to 3 who then one touch passes to 4 who then one touch passes back to 1 and the one touch sequence continues with the same pattern again.

Accuracy of pass is key, proper weight on pass (not to hard) is key, good ball placement on pass is critical, keep pass on the ground, locking ankle on pass, get big toe up off of ground when passing, communicate by asking for ball and demanding ball.

Next level: Reverse direction (1 to 4 to 3 to 2 to 1)

Next level: Keep ball inside grid and pass inside the sides of the square (1 to 3 to 2 to 4 to 1) and then reverse (1 to 4 to 2 to 3 to 1)

2v1 Possession (25 mins)

2v1 Possession

Start with ball in Grid 1 with 2 Blue players vs 1 Yellow player

2 Blue players try and connect 3 passes inside Grid 1 while Yellow defends and then after connecting 3 passes either Blue can pass ball into the next Blue teammate waiting in Grid 2

The non-passing Blue player from Grid 1 enters Grid 2 to support Blue teammate to string together 3 more passes while Yellow transitions from Grid 1 to Grid 2 to defend again.

Same sequence again, 2 Blue players connect 3 passes inside Grid 2 while Yellow defends and then either Blue can pass ball into next Blue teammate waiting in Grid 3.

Once play has reached Grid 3 then the game continues and reverses back to Grid 2.

NOTE: Yellow defends and transitions into each Grid trying to win ball. If Yellow wins ball, they pass it over to their teammates in any of the Grids of 4, 5, or 6. Yellow then quickly organizes and starts to string together their 3 passes in a Grid while the Blue player on that side defends.

One and two touch play is key. Off ball movement is critical. Look for layoffs and give and go. Angle play is a big part of the game. Look for quick moevement off of ball, firm pace on passes, leading passes, locking ankle on passes, touches away from defender and pressure, quality first touch.

4v4 to End Line Player

4v4 playe in grid

Red team going East to West

Yellow team going North to South

Team scores a point by getting ball to end line player who immediately enters field with ball and switches with teammate that played the ball to them.

Next goal is scored by getting ball played to other end line player on opposite side.

Defending team trys to win ball and plays to their end line player

20 yard square grid

Game never stops and teams attempt to be in constant possession of the ball. Look for playing the ball the way your facing, opening up the space, first touch into space, give and go, layoffs, proper pace on ball, endline players should look to attack space when receiving end line pass or one touch passes to keep transition going. When to pass wide and when to pass though the defense. Comunication is key.

Possession driven with swtiching point of attack

End line players can be used as target players and are limited to 1 touch back into play

1 point for a direct goal by field player but 2 points for a ball played to end line player who 1 touches it back into play for a teammate to score.

Off ball movement is key, changing point of attack, playing the ball the way your facing, one and two touch play can be very effective, open hips and don't turn into pressure.
