Screen 1

Gates Game

Setup:

There are the same number of cone gates as players.

Players are not allowed to dribble through the same gate twice in a row.

Large space as much room as you can.

Description:

Start with 1 player each with a ball. Players dribble through gates for a minute and players need to count how many gates they can dribble.

Second Pass, Give players another minute and they have to do one more gate as they did before

Third Pass, Give players another minute and they have to do one more gates as they did before

Coaching Points:

1. Ball Manipulation

2. Dribbling with Speed and change in direction

Progression:

Add 1 or 2 defenders, attacker trys to dribble through a gate and keep possession, if they do they get a point. Defenders can try to win the ball from attackers. Keep score. Play for 1 minute , several games, change defenders.

Screen 2 (20 mins)

Set Up: Does not have to be half of field, use space provided. Bigger the better.

Description: 1v1 attacking from the outside. 1st defender yellow passes ball into attacking team Blue defenders recover to defend. Attackers try to score in one of the small gates(Dribble). Defenders if they win the ball can counter to small goals created by the cones for the lines of players. Play for a time limit switch teams and keep score with loser doing a small punishment. Attacking at pace, making decision when to shoot or dribble (be creative).

Coaching Points:

1. Ball Manipulation

2. Decision making (dribble/ pass)

3. Finishing Techniques (instep/laces)

4. Dribbling with Speed and change in direction

5. Pasing with instep

Progression:

Attack to big goal.

2v2 and make proper decision when to dribble and when to pass the ball.

Screen 3 (20 mins)

Set Up: 2 20Lx35W grids or bigger to allow for space

Description: 3v1 into 3v2 situation in the attack. Defenders cannot leave their own grids to defend attackers try to beat 1st defender and the create a 3v2 situation in the final grid to score on the big goal.

Coaching Points:

1. Ball Manipulation

2. Decision making (dribble/ pass)

3. Finishing Techniques (instep/laces)

4. Dribbling with Speed and change in direction

5. Pasing with instep

Progression: Add a target player for attackers in second grid and possibly extra defender in first grid.

Screen 4

Set Up: 45x64y 4v4 +GK+ Neutral. Provide gates in wide areas and central area. Use as much space as provided, bigger the better.

Description: Normal game but have to dribble through one of the gates before they can score.

2. Decision making (dribble/ pass)

3. Finishing Techniques (instep/laces)

4. Dribbling with Speed and change in direction

5. Pasing with instep

Progression:

Add neutral players on the outside to bounce off of.

Adjusting size of space
