Warm Up:

Use dribbling skills to get the players moving and within their skill work incorporate 1v1 attacking footskills.

2v1 (15 mins)

In an approximate 20x25 grid, defending team is down a player. Game is initiated with defenders passing to attackers. Score by passing or dribbling through gate. Make sure to switch sides so each group has a chance attacking.

Coaching Points

- Possitive/agressive first touch to engage defender.

- Once defender is drawn to the ball, then look to pass.

- If defender takes away passing option, attacker must dribble.

- Possible combinations that might work here - overlap, give and go.

3v2 (20 mins)

Use an approximate grid 35x25, where players are split into two teams. Both teams are defending two small goals but the attacking team has three players while defending team has two. To score, players can pass or dribble through the gates.

Coaching Points:

- Possitive/agressive first touch to engage defender.

- Once defender is drawn to the ball, then look to pass.

- If defender takes away passing option, attacker must dribble.

- Good vision to recognize when to pass and when to dribble.

- Players off the ball must move to get open

In a 45x35 grid with two 5 yard endzones, split players into two teams with two neutrals. Score by passing or dribbling into endzones. Players cannot be in the endzone before the ball is played. Be sure to switch neutrals.

Coaching Points:

- Good vision.

- Recognize when to pass or to dribble.

- Dribble to exploit open space when available.

- Dribble to engage defender to set up pass.
