Skill Intro RWB (10 mins)

—1 ball per group of 4 players.

Player 1 dribbles the ball to the second line, stopping the ball with the sole of his foot.

Player 1 then passes the ball to player 3 and follows his pass to join player 4 on the end of the line.

Player 3 dribbles to the second line in the other direction and repeats the routine. Continue until players return to their original positions.

Coaching Points:

The first touch should push the ball 2-3 feet in front of the receiver. Cover the ground as quickly as possible

Skill Training RWB (10 mins)

Position one player on each end line with a lone defender in the middle of the area;

Repeat this grid in 3 other areas, totalling 12 players.

The outer players each have a ball and the objective is for the outer player to get over the middle line without losing the ball to the middle player (lone defender).

The lone defender can only move along the line between the cones. If the defender wins the ball, then the attacking player and defender change places and roles.

Keep score of how many times a player can get over the line without losing the ball.

Possible Coaches remarks;

• Look for an opportunity to get over the line while the defender is tackling the other dribbler.

• Use a scissors and inside out move to beat the defender.

Skill Game RWB (20 mins)

2 Setups, 25 x 15 m.

Yellow Player runs the ball into scoring zone then finishes.

Once the yellow player has shot, the red player attempts to do the same, but now the yellow player applies defensive pressure by running after them. REPEAT THE PROCESS

Try to run with the ball and score as quickly as possible without loosing the ball to the defender

Player Cues:

When running the ball can you use your furthest foot from the defender.

When running the ball can you scan to see where the defender/the goals are?

When receiving a pass can your first touch take you past your defender or into an area where you can run the ball.

If you’re next, try to anticipate when you have an opportunity to attack space in front of you.

Try to keep your eyes up when moving with the ball
