Passing/Recieving Warm up (15 mins)

Set Up

-10-12 players split up 6 on outside, 4 in the middle

-4 cone in the middle 5x5 yards square.

Drill

-players on the outside with the ball

-players in the middle runs out to orange player, receives a pass and make a nice pass back ( must take 2 touches)

-then you must sprint back through the the red square and go to another player

-work for about 60-90 seconds

Variation 1

-make it one touch

Variation 2

-ball starts with the ball in the middle

-player in the middle makes a passs out to the orange player on the outside, then makes a run to support the player and receive the pass. The player receives the ball in an open position and with the back foot.

-player controls it and dribbles out to find another player.

-work for 60-90 seconds

Variation 3

-ball starts with the player in the middle

-blue player makes a pass out to orange player on the outside and makes a run around him, the outside orange player makes a small pass back to blue player.

-blue player then dribbles and finds another player

-work for about 60-90 seconds

Coaching Points

-good first touch

-pass and receive with the inside of your foot

-head up to find open player and open space

-acceleration/change of direction/sprint

-sharpness

2vs1 with overlapping run (20 mins)

Set up

-half field

-2 cones

-2 defenders - one in goal, one defender

-switch every 2 or 3 times

Drill

-player 1 makes a pass to player 2, and then does an overlaping run

-player 2 then attacks the defender to create a 2vs1

-if they are not attacking quickly give them a certain number of seconds to attack ( 6-10 seconds)

-if defender wins the ball he can score on the pug goals

-quick overlaping run

-attack the defender with speed

-quick decision

-moves and fakes

-communication

progression to 2vs2 with (10 mins)

Set up

-half field

-switch defenders every 2 or 3 times

Drill

-player 1 then makes a pass to player 2, and then does an overlaping run

-the second defender makes a run around the cone (10 yards away) and joins the first defeder for a 2vs2

-player 2 then attacks the defender to create a 2vs2

-if they can attack quickly it can still be a 2vs1, if they are too slow to attack the second defender will join and will be a 2vs2 and you will lose your advantage

--if defender wins the ball he can score on the pug goals

-player 1 makes a pass to player 2, and then does an overlaping run

-at the same time player 3 also make an over lapping run around player 2

-player 2 then attacks the defender to create a 3vs2

-if they are not attacking quickly give them a certain number of seconds to attack (10 seconds)

--if defender wins the ball he can score on the pug goals
