Organization:

1. Open area.

2. Every player with a ball.

Instructions:

1. Players perform juggling challenge: bounce, kick, thigh, catch.

2. Teach Ronaldinho Pendulum Flick Up trick.

3. Players dribble in area after set time of juggling/freestyling.

4. Reinforce Messi/Ronaldo.

Coaching Points:

1. Head up.

2. Controlled touches.

3. Use both feet.

Organization:

1. 20x20 area.

2. Markers at halfway.

3. Every player with a ball.

Instructions:

1. First player on each line attacks middle marker, performs move and continues to other side.

2. Next two players repeat process.

3. Ensure players work on both feet.

Coaching Points:

1. Attack space with speed.

2. Keep ball under control.

3. Technical execution of moves:

Step-over

* Fake to take ball across body with inside of foot

* Step over the front of the ball

* Plant foot on opposite side of the ball

* Take ball away in opposite direction

* Use opposite foot

Roll Step

* Roll ball across front of body

* Step over ball with opposite foot

* Continue forward with ball

Progressions:

1. Ensure to work left and right feet.

1v1 Fully Opposed

Organization:

1. 30x20 area with 5x20 endzone.

2. Players set up as shown.

3. Blue gates are 2yds.

4. Plenty of balls.

Instructions:

1. Attacking player (in white) looks to penetrate into endzone before finishing on goal.

2. Defender (in dark blue) looks to win the ball and score by running through either of blue gates.

3. Defender is live upon attacker's first touch; cannot challenge attacker inside endzone.

4. Players go back to same line when done.

5. Rotate roles after two minutes.

Coaching Points:

1. Weight/direction of first touch.

2. Head up to observe space/defender.

3. Pick head up when ball out of feet.

4. Ability to change speed(s) if necessary.

5. Speed of play.

6. Attack the defender's front foot.

Progressions:

1. Allow defender to challenge inside the endzone.

Conditioned Game

Organization:

1. 30x20 with 5yd wide channels.

2. Two goals.

3. Equal teams.

Instructions:

1. Teams play 3v3 to goal.

2. Players cannot get challenged/tackled inside the wide channels.

3. Players are allowed to dribble into the channel or pass to a teammate already in there.

Coaching Points:

1. Decision-making.

2. Ability to recognize teammates in space.

3. Attack space quickly.

4. Use of 1v1 situations.

5. Movement to create space - spatial awareness.

Progressions:

1. Remove wide channels and finish with free play.
