Warm Up (15 mins)

Organization:

-1 Large Grid 40'x40'

-Divide Grid into 4 equal rectangles

-Spread players out egually amoungst grid 1, 2, 3, 4

-Goals set up as pictured

Instructions:

-Lines 2 and 3 are attackers, 1 and 4 are defenders

-Attackers try to run to end of line to score a point, or turn back and score a point at the starting line

- Defender tries to stay within arms length so that they get the point

-Attacking Line and Defending lines switch every time

-Line 1 and 2 are together and Line 3 and 4 are together

-Defenders and Attackers cannot leave channel

Coaching Points:

-Notice when to make big run down line or when to turn

-Only look to turn 1-2 times

Progressions:

-You only have 7 seconds

-Attackers must get across defenders channel, Defender has to tag them

Activity 1- no pressure (20 mins)

Organization:

-Same area as warm up

-Every player has a ball

Instructions:

-Players will dribble out to middle of their channel

-Perform U-turn and Stop-Start on command

Coaching Points:

U-Turn

-Big touch into space

-Checking shoulder

-Catching ball wth foot

-Big/Little flick back

Stop-Start

-Big touch into space

-Check Shoulder

-Stop ball with semi turn

-Push it forward

Activity 2- semi pressure (25 mins)

Organization:

-Same activity as warm up but now with a soccer ball

Instructions:

-Players trying to score soccer balls into net

-If you dribble accross defending line 2 points

-If you shoot ball into either net you get 1 point

Coaching Points:

-Use Stop/Start or u-turn

-discuss when that would be used in game

Progressions:

-Defender is allowed to get attacer if they turn or stop dead

-7 seconds to complete activity

Activity 3- full pressure (30 mins)

Organization:

-Same grid as Warm up except to remove cones in middle to make 1 and 2 one grid and 3 and one grid

-Goals are set up with space between them and their backs facing each other

-Two lines on each side

Instructions:

-One player passes the ball through the legs of the other

-They then battle for the ball and try to score in either goal

-Switch lines and repeat

Coaching Points:

-Look to use turns to fake out opponent and change direction

Progressions:

-Make a champions league field and a Premier league field

Conditioned game (30 mins)

Organization:

-use entire area, even make bigger if needed

-All the goals at the farthest corners of the fields

-two teams

Instructions:

-Each team tries to score in either of their goals

Coaching Points:

-Look to swithc field or point of attack using all different kinds of turns

Progressions:

-If to croweded play three teams , have 1 team out practicing turns till either first goal is scored or 3 minutes are up
