Organisation

* In a 11v11 game the blue team will play a 4-2-3-1 and the White team play 4-3-3 (1&2 in CM)

* The CF zone is 44x15yards

* The CM zone is 24x24yards

* The ball zone in behind the halfway line and the coach is incharge of passing the ball to the CB's. Once the CF have a shot the assistant coach returns the ball to the main ball zone.

* The session will be focusing on the white team in possession of the ball in the CM area while the Blue team try and cause problems.

Set Up

The function starts when the white CB serves the ball into the CM area. The ball must be progressed through the CM area into the attacking zone. The CF's then try and score a goal.

White Team

The white team start the session by passing the ball into the CM zone and the holding CM player bouncing the ball into the free CB. The aim for the white team is to create a 4v3 in the CM zone and find the spare player. The ball is built up in CM and then progressed into the CF zone and they have 6 seconds to score a goal.

Blue Team

The blue CM players are active and are in a 2&1 formation. Once the blue team win possession of the ball they have to get the ball back into the CB's to score a goal or pass the ball through the gates

Problem / Solution 1

Set The problem

When the White CM player bounces the ball across to the spare CB the Blue N10 can go and press the ball. The other 2 blue holding CM players can mark from the front and try and intercept the possession.

1. N10 runs direct towards the CB

2. N10 cuts off the deepest CM player and presses the ball

Solution To The Problem

Wide rotation

1. The Holding CM player bounces the ball off the the spare CB. Once the ball has been set he then makes an opposite movement and open his body to receive the ball on the back foot. As the ball travels to the holding CM player the right CM player starts to come down the line demanding the ball (Tries to pull the blue CM out of the screening position) The triger for the wide right CF to come inside the box is on the CM players movement droping down the line. The holding CM has 3 options:

1. Split the ball into the right CF to receive the ball on half a turn

2. Play into the CM player who drops down the line (if the blue CM doesnt come out of his space)

3. Play to the Left CM player who makes the box wide (if the right screen narrows off)

Problem / Solution 2

Set The problem

The ball is still played to the Deepest CM player and he sets the ball to the free CB. As the ball travels to the CB, the blue CM players press the ball and go into a 1&2 formation.

* The CM Player (A) stops the ball getting played to the Deep lying CM player while closing the distance between (C).

* The CM player (B) presses the CB stepping out with the ball and cuts off the free CM player behind him.

The CM player (C) has to be the base of the blue unit and gets between the two white players.

Solution To The Problem

(CB Stepping in)

The progression in this stage is the CB stepping in to create another way of getting a 4v3 in CM. The Blue team are now pressing the white team in a 1&2 formation. The white team have now got a spare player in the 2nd part of the box but the player on the ball will have aggressive pressure on him.

1. If the gap between the blue player A and C is big then the pass can be played into the white CM to receive on the back foot to played into the final zone.

2. If the gap between the blue player A and C is small and the pass will be a risk from the CB, the opposite white CM player comes diagonally towards the ball and will hopefully attract the blue holding CM player. As the ball travels toward him he has to keep his body open to play around the corner to the spare CM who then plays into the attacking zone.
