6v5+1 (25 mins)

Organization:

-40x40 or 50x50 yard grid (depending) divided in half; adjust it according to the size of the group and number/ability of players.

-divide the team into 2 groups and put them in different colour pinnies. (6-8 players per group)

-players keep possession in "their" half of the grid, while the other team pressures and tries to win back the ball, but with one player less; that player stays in the other half of the grid as a target player.

-once the team chasing wins the ball, they have to switch it to their teammate and travel back to their grid; the team that lost possession must send all but one player in to try to win it back.

-*Important: the team must win possession and switch it, regular rules are enforced; ex. if the team chasing kicks the ball out of bounds, possession goes back to the other team.

-perform 4 sets x 5 minutes with 2 minutes rest between

Progression:

1) The ball must be played into the target player, and they must combine with one of the players coming back into the grid; meaning the ball must be played back to the target player.

2) touch limits, eg 3 touch

Coaching Points:

-coach in flow and during rest period. do NOT freeze the activity as this will lower heart rate..

-all about movement and quickly passing the ball to keep possession.

-attacking principles of play....Dispersal, support, mobility, penetration

-keep a large supply of balls close to keep the game moving.

-teams can score in any one of the 2 goals the other team is defending.

Progression:
