pass and receive warm up

Set up / Organisation:

2 cones 15 yards apart with 1 player on each cone and one player in the middle. pass into middle on half turn who receives and plays out to opposite player.

receive warm up

Set up / Organisation:

10x10 box wth 3 players and 1 ball. 1 player will act as the server for 1 minute. The server will play the ball into 1 of the receiving players and quickly following there ball apply pressure to the reciever who must take a touch and pass to the other receiver , and move again to receive again. Play restarts with the server. every player in the box will have a go at serving and receivng.

confidence with touch , always want the ball, no fear of mistakes.

Harry Mills - tight control away from defender good pass and move again. concentrate on first touch being away from defender and scanning before receiving the ball.

Team Learning Outcomes:

scanning and checking shoulders, this should help to speed play up and slow play down for example be patient scanned defender can block passs or scanned defender slightly off so can have a positve touch to either go passed him or pass the ball

10x10 receivng

Set up / Organisation:

10 x 10 box. players pass the ball to player in front through the gate and must instantly sprint after ball putting pressure on receiving player. Drill continues around the square.

Technical Learning objectives:

scanning/eyes up, check shoulders, assess weight of pass, tight touch through gates away from pressure.

Tactical Learning Objectives:

understanding why touch is taken through gatesaway from defender

Physiological Learning Objectives:

accelaration, decelaration both with and without the ball

Psychological Learning Objectives:

confidence with touch , always want the ball, no fear of mistakes.

Set up / Organisation:

30x20 (depending on numbers) 4 defenders locked in to middle zone, 4 blues in end zone 4 reds in end zone. coach plays ball in, on blues 1st touch 2 oranges can enter and try to win the ball back. 5 passes and blues can pass through middle zone where as soon as reds take first touch 2 more oranges can enter. each team will be in for 2 minutes. see how many times ball can get transferred.

Technical Learning objectives:

First touch is key for team recieving the ball to set play up. scan to see where next pass can be, assess weight of pass.

Tactical Learning Objectives:

Dispersal as a team as well as movement key.

Physiological Learning Objectives:

decelaration, acelaration, jumping

Psychological Learning Objectives:

confidence, full involvement, no fear of mistakes, accept challeng and always wnat the ball.

30x20 (or adjust depending on numbers) ssg playing through the thirds in tight areas. Blue team have to play thorugh thirds to get ball to lone striker, once he has received one blue from midfield can join in.

underdstanding when and when not to play forward to lone striker , assess how he receives the ball whtehr or not midfielder can join in otheriwse if intercepted could result in a counter attack

how to play in tight areas through the thirds, may have to keep the ball so passing, receivng and movement is key. understadning when or when not to join in from how striker receives under pressure, dont run passed the ball unless under good control.
