Warm Up (10 mins)

Warm up - All participants have a ball, dribbling round inside the cone area taking lots of touches and changing direction. All players are paired in groups of two, each given a number- number one and number two-, when the coach shouts the number, the player with that number will drive towards a goal. When they reach the 'gates', the player will shoot into the empty goal aiming for the corners. Once they have had their shot at goal, the player will retrieve the ball and join back inside the coned area.

Coaching points - Lots of touches and changes of direction.

- Be positive when driving towards gates

- Strike through the ball using the laces when shooting

- Knee over ball

- Aim for corners

Main Drill (15 mins)

Main drill - Players start at their designated cones and when told to do by the coach they will sprint through through the gates, round the last cone then into the middle square. When they reach the middle square, they take a ball, dribble away from the mannequin and have a shot at goal. It is a race, first team to score gets a point, extra points given for accuracy.

Progression - The mannequin is taken away and replaced with an active defender. This giving the drill a more game realistic aspect to it.

Coaching points - Low centre of gravity when turning cones

Be positive when driving towards gates

- Strike through the ball using the laces when shooting

- Knee over ball

- Keep back straight when shooting

- Aim for corners

Conditioned game (15 mins)

Conditioned game - Small sided game with a conditon added in. The condition being that when a player dribbles beyond the flat discs in their opponents half, they then have two touches of the ball before they have to shoot. This condition encourages the players to be postive and have a shot at goal.

Cool Down (5 mins)

Cool down - Participants jog round the area at a steady pace until they are instructed by the coach to slow down into a steady walk

Static stretches - Stretches with such as; hamstring kicks, groin extentions, thigh extenions

Breathing techniques - Participants lie on the ground on a matt. Eyes are closed and told to think about the best goal they have ever scred. Breathing in through their nose and then our their mouth. This is to slow the heart rate down.
