Warm Up (10 mins)

Co-ordinated warm up. 2 Groups in channeled area. Will perform the following:

1) Jog x2

2) Hamstrings x2

3) Lunges x2

4) Quads x2

Will add in ball to perform ball mastery.

1) Insides

2) Outside

3) Inside/Outside

4) Roll/Touch

Will then add in fast feet elements to increase tempo.

1) Quick Steps

2) Big Strides

3) 3 Quarter Pace

4) 1 Sprint

Double Pass - Channel - Unopposed (15 mins)

Organization:

15x25. 3 Groups running at same time

Instructions:

Pattern 1: Black

Player A plays to Player B

Player B sets Player A who plays straight pass Player B who makes a diagonal run.

Player A moves to Player B, Player B now plays same combination with Player C.

Pattern 2 (contingency):

A plays B, B sets A, who plays third attacker C

Coaching Points:

- Quality of pass (weight and accuracy)

- Opening out and receiving on back foot

- Quality of set to next player (taking weight off the ball)

- Passing with correct foot to elimante possible defender

1v1 towards goal (15 mins)

TW 1v1

Organization:

As above

Instructions:

Blue player are the defenders and will defend for 90 seconds. Players in white work playing 2v1 against the defender. The passer is limited to two touches and cannot cross the halfway marker.

Coaching Points:

- Check to an angle - open body

- Communication - Voice, loud and early - Hands

- Awareness of the defender - Open up or drop back

- Decision - Double pass in behind (if defender follows the ball) or have ball back to feet.

- Be creative and confident when going at defender 1v1.

Progressions:

- Switch defenders every 90 seconds

Conditioned Game (20 mins)

Organization: Split into 3 teams. Will even up depending with numbers. No goals. Just an area to play a posession based condition game.

Instructions: 5 passes = 1 goal. Although they have a maximum of 3 touches. Looking to create what we done above into the game. The team will also have numbers to suit as the players on the outside will be wall players, and will be used purely to keep posession. It encourages everyone to use methods teached in part 2 and 3 of the session.

Coaching Points: Keep posession, and be able to perform under pressure. Also making it semi competitive. Will stop and identify when I have too, but really want to let it flow to gauge if session has been complex, or they have picked up theme relatively ok.

Progressions: 3 passes for a goal, so encourages more pressure from defending team, Also limiting touches to 2. Again, understand there will be alot of errors, but wont learn unless we try these things.

Free Play (30 mins)

Organization:

Instructions: None too specific. Let the group play.

Coaching Points: Encourage general posession and receiving. Try keep in with theme of the session.

Progressions: None, let group have fun.
