Organization:
- 25x25 grid, or adjust as needed
-3v3+1 inside grid, target player on either end of the field
Instructions:
-Both teams inside the grid are playing towards one direction. Team is attempting to play the ball into the target players feet as soon as the option is available
-Neutral will play for the team in possession
-Target players can move along the end line
-When a team hits the target player, the target player now becomes a server and plays the ball into the team that just conceded.
- Team in possession can use the target player behind them as an additional player if they want to restart play.
Coaching Points:
- Identify that team in possession has numerical superiority, how can we move off the ball to allow for us to stretch out defenders
- When we have the ball we want to spread throughout the field to draw defenders out and create opportunities for numerical advantages. When we don't have the ball we want to close the space down and get tight quickly.
-Use the zones to demonstrate this as well as staying compact as a team both in and out of possession.
- Strong weight of pass, receiving across body, keeping ball close with a tight touch
- Positioning on goal kicks, two players wide one player high
