Receiving and Turning

Balls start at opposite corners. Players in the middle check away then show for the ball. When the ball is passed to them server calls "turn" - they turn and pass on to the opposite end of the diamond. Players then sprint and follow their pass.

Coaching Points

- Check away first to create space

- Server call "turn"

- Receive the ball on back foot

- Open body position

- Call when want the ball

Progression

- Reverse direction

- Limit to 2 touch

- How many passes in 1 min

Playing the way your facing

Overlap

Balls start at opposite corners. Players in the middle check away then show for the ball. When the ball is passed the server calls "overlap". Player in the middle now holds the ball up until server has run around the outside of them before passing in front of them. Player who has made the overlapping run now runs back and takes position on middle cone.

Coaching Points

- Check away first to create space

- Server call "overlap"

- Call when want the ball

- Pass ball in front player making overlap

- Overlapping run must be fast

Progression

- Server can now call TURN, BACK or OVERLAP and player in middle must respond appropriately.
