- To develop individual foot skills and introduce attacking moves, applying them effectively in a 1 v 1 situation.

Duration of session: 1 hour

Equipment: balls, 2 sets of pinnies, 2 mini goals, cones, whiteboard and pen

Ball Mastery and attacking moves (20 mins)

Set up:

-place cones in rows as illustrated - 5 yards between each cone.

-Players work in 2's as shown.

Activity:

1.Basic FIFA 11+ warm up

2. Players perform different footskills up to the large cone and back to their start cone - inside and outside, toe taps, soccer boxes, drags.

3. Move onto Attacking Moves.

Large cone is a defender. Players dribble at the same time and perform the attacking move finishing at the opposite end to which they start. Repeat with left and right foot.

Dosage:

Intensity: Moderate to high

Reps: 3 per exercise

Rest: 15-30 seconds between each exercise

Coaching Points:

-close control

-use all surfaces of the foot

-keep your head up and use periheral vision

-Beat the defender, accelerate into open space.

1 v 1 - beat the defender (20 mins)

Set up:

-As shown in the diagram - use half of turf field

Activity:

- 1 v 1

- Attacker dribbles at the defender, performs an attacking move and attempts to score in one of the two goals.

-If defender wins the ball they dribble to the end line.

-Keep rotating positions each rep.

Dosage:

Intensity: High

Duration: 15-45 seconds per rep

Reps: 6-10

Sets: 2

Rest: 15-45 seconds between rep. 1 minute between set.

Coaching Points:

-Aim - use your upper body to defend the ball - can you put your opponents off balance.

-close control

-short opposite movements to create a yard of space.

-use your body to protect the ball and beat the defender

-Balance and strength, be able to hold the defender off the ball

-identify the space and accelerate into it

- 30 x 20 yards

- 2 mini goals

- 4 v 4

Activity:

-4 v 4

-Free play

Dosage:

Intensity: High

Duration per game: 3 minutes

Reps: 4-6

Rest: 1 minute between games

Coaching Points:

- encourage 1 v 1 dribbling and moves

-Can players beat their opponent 1 v 1 then look to make the pass to the next zone or score.

-Balance and Strength tp beable to hold off your defender.

-Be prepared to play under pressure

- less coaching, let them play.
