Warm Up (15 mins)

Organisation

Area size to suit the number of players.

Any number of players, numbered sequentially.

Players need to know the number of the players immediately before and after theirs.

How to Play

Start with one ball and pass through the number sequence.

All players should be on the move at all times.

Dynamic flexibility when out of possession.

Any GKs can use hands or feet appropriately.

Progression

Add in additional balls as appropriate e.g. (for 10 players) 1 and 5, then 1, 3 and 7 etc.

Support play.

Transition and Transfer (20 mins)

Organisation

Area size is 40x30 with a halfway line.

2 teams of equal size.

How to Play

Play starts with a 5v3 (6v4 or 7v5 as required).

The Grey team try to win the ball and immediately play into their team mates across the halfway line.

As soon as the ball crosses the halfway line, 3 Reds can cross to try to win the ball back for their team and all the Greys have to try to get across keep the ball as a team.

Possible Coaching Points

Grey team should try to work together and force the ball to a position where they can play forward easily.

Must transfer to the opposite half as quickly as possible (ball and players).

May have to protect the ball to wait for support.

Teams take turns with each activity.

How to Play

The Grey team can score in either goal.

- try to play positively.

- try to create and exploit overloads.

The Red team score a point for 6 passes.

- move to support team mates.

- try to move the opposition about.

SSG (20 mins)

Organisation

Pitch size to suit your players.

Play starts with the Red team "crossing" into the box to the keeper.

How to Play

From the GK catch, the Grey team have 10 seconds to score.

The first pass must be into their own half.

Possible Coaching Points

Play forward at every opportunity.

Movement ahead of the ball.

Support behind the ball at pace.

Be positive, particularly in the final third.

Progression

GK can play to striker if appropriate.
