4 v 4 + 2 ssa (25 mins)

Organisation

In the 20 x 20 area at Trio play 4 v 4 + 2 neutrals(add neutrals on the outside of the grid if necessary contingent on number of players you have). It is very important in this activity that you do not have to many players inside the grid as there will be fewer opportunities for 1 v 1 isolations and success in general........If the ball goes out of bounds the play restarts from the coach who serves the ball to the team who merits possession.

-Teams seek to keep possession with the help of the neutrals and score a point by dribbling through a gate.If the ball goes out of bounds the play restarts from the coach who serves the ball to the team who merits possession.

-Keep score and make it competitive; Competition will motivate young players, and also the old!

Possible progressions:

-player must make a pass to a teammate after dribbling through a gate before they can attack another gate for a point.

-play even numbers

-team must make "x" amount of passess before they can dribble through a gate.

Coaching points

-Dribbling: Visual cues- Are you 1 v 1.. is their space and a gate in behind the defender that you can attack?

-When to pass, when to dribble? 1 v 2 pass the ball to a teammate

-dispersal/width- get big when your team has the ball

-depth/support- Are players at good angeles to recieve a pass; Is their support within 360 degrees of the player in possession

-movement/mobility- move to recieve; re-cycle runs

-Creativity

-3 p's: possession,patience, penetration
