Warm Up / SAQ (10 mins)

Organization:

- Lines of 3 or 4 as shown.

- 10 x 20 yds

Instructions:

- Players start on eye contact / attacker's (white) first step

- Attacker attempts to cross the endline without being tagged by the defender

- Point for crossing endline w/o getting tagged; point for tagging the attacker as the defender

- Switch lines

Coaching Points:

- Attack space with speed (get defender's momentum up).

- If defender gets across, change direction (use his momentum against him).

- Timing and technique of change of direction

Technical Semi-opposed or Opposed (15 mins)

Organization:

- 3 lines of players

- Player in line 1 with ball as shown.

Instructions:

- Player B opens gap on eye contact.

- Player A passes to player B.

- Player B passes to player C.

- Player C drives into space, performs given technique on player B who provides passive pressure by running across space to block player C.

- Rotation: A to B to C to A.

Coaching Points:

- Defender drives into space.

- Recognition of defender (can I keep driving? do I need to change direction?).

- Quality / Timing of technique.

- Head up / preparation for next movment coming out of technique.

Progressions:

R - eliminate passes, replace player A with use of endline (end goal), player C starts with ball and dribbles, player B blocks space on eye contact.

P - go live, player C tries to get to endline.

P - player A is addiontal defender once beating player B.

1 vs 1 Conditioned Game (15 mins)

Organization:

-2 teams, 1 end zone, each player with a ball

Instructions:

- Attackers try and score by getting into the end zone and stopping the ball

- Once the ball goes out of play or is scored the next player from the opposition goes.

Coaching Points:

1. Recognize space

2. Recognize defender

3. Quick transition

Progressions:

add two goals on endline behind the endzone for attacking player to score into once they are in the zone, add one counter goal centrally between the two lines for the defender to score into if the ball is won

Tournament 3v3 (30 mins)

Organization:

3v3 Small-sided tournament games: 4 teams of 3 players eachteam. 2 fields of 20x30 yards with 2 Pugg Goals on opposite endlines.

Instructions:

4 Teams of 3, play 3v3 tournament style format where each team will play one another. 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 for a loss. Each game should be approximately 6-8 minutes in duration (obviously play a 3 game tournament).

Coaching Points:

· Review of session's learning outcomes being translatedinto the game

· 3 lines of attack

· Creating triangle (gives angles of support)

· Making triangle as big as possible (Creating space)
